All the time I was doing this I would constantly check her pulse. It, was weak and fast I told Paul to go out on the highway and try to flag down someone that could help. About that time I checked her pulse and there was none. Her heart had stopped beating. That was when I thought I would panic. I dont want to ever have to go through that again. It was had stopped about a minute, but it seemed a lot longer. In the meantime, Paul had flagged down a van with a young couple in it, heading for Denver. They had a CB, and soon stopped a trucker heading in the opposite direction. He called the Parowah police on his CB, who in turn called an ambulance. I wish I had gotten the name of that couple from Denver. They helped out in the rain, brought a down-fille- d sleeping bag to keep Janet warm, and were just nice people. They were the first car that Paul had tried to stop. It wasnt until we were at the scary. Ed Lloyd isnt the type of fellow to blow his own hbrn. He wont boast about what he did. He had thought enough of his fellow man to take the training when it was made available, and washable, under the most adverse conditions, to apply that training to save a life. All of us who know Janet Pitcher owe Ed Lloyd a debt of gratitude. We also owe our neighbors the consideration to do what Ed did, to take advantage of CPR training when it is available. Think of it this way, had that training not been available, and Ed Lloyd not taken advantage of drama would it, our have ended as a tragedy.
