Summer 1917 Herb Ringer's father, Joseph, was a first French horn player and played with some of the finest orchestras in America. During the summers, Joseph often accepted seasonal jobs, playing band concerts in city parks. In 1917, he accepted a summer job with the City of Colorado Springs. he and Sadie and Herb traveled west by train from Cincinnati. It was Herb's first trip Out West.
