Show THE ZEPHYR/FEBRUARY-MARCH 2004 SE UTAH IN A NUTSHELL: ACTIVISM ALIVE IN MOAB? Although we were never sitre just what this highly visible protest was trying to say, we were happy to see an activist voice in Moab trying to say SOMETHING. THE PHOTOGRAPHIC EVIDENCE ; NOTE: The other side of this protest wagon said: “NO MORE _ LOR BRING TROOPS That's a BLOOD OIL, OU HOME." message we can ALL understand. THE BIG PINYON DIE-OFF IN SE UTAH...after five years of severe drought, the pinyon pines are finally showing the effects. THOUSANDS are dying, especially in San Juan County. We're about to see a dramatic change in the landscape of the Colorado Plateau. DOG OF THE MONTE... It’s not a dog and it wasn't in Moab, but how often do you see a guy who looks like Colonel Sanders with a pet ocelot? ... Lhe same view in 1998. ANOTHER DROUGHT-EFFECT: Opponents of Glen Canyon Dam have warned for decades that a drought, combined with the vast quantities of silt deposits would render the reservoir useless. After just 40 years, it's already happening. The reservoir is down 100 feet and the ‘lake’ at Hite is simply gone. Hite Marina is closed and the boat ramp is high and dry. PAGE?
