Show ee VA i “MARCO VANDEWATER was passing through Moab in 1989 when ‘his $200 Datsun broke down on Main Street, just a few yards from the old Broiler. He wandered inside to get out of the heat and met ‘ owners Carl and Debbie Rappe. Why? Here's what Marco says... He's been coming back ever since. "Of course, there is the scenery, unlike anything in the world. But the biggest difference is just one word: space. I miss our liberal society we have back home, but the space you have is probably just as important, since we in Europe have few places left like this. "Also I love the freedom to live cheap; a piece of land with a trailer on it? Why not? Why have a 30 year mortgage and live to work? That's also Moab to me--work (a little) to live! When your car is done, park it in the backyard and get another cheap one. The beauty of junk! To me itis a symbol of another freedom we don't have in Europe. While many moving here do not appreciate junk; I sure do. It is a symbol of the freedom still existing in your country." . |
