| Show got perfect photograph of raccoon only trouble was that the sitter absolutely refused to look pleasant during the time necessary for the shot I 1 was tramping through the wo ids bokin for stray snapshots when I 1 came across a beech tree that I 1 had noticed several times before ays a writer I 1 had been interested in this tree on account of some s us looking scratches on the bar and a large hole in the trunk some thirty teet dom the ground giving it very luich the appearance of being the snug retreat af some animal having my climbers with me I 1 ascended the tree to my gratification and delight the cavity contained a raccoon but how was he to be photographed 7 the only barge tree that stood near the beech was a maple and if I 1 co lid in duce him to leave his reheat he hiob ably would sit long enoich on one or the other of the for me to make an exposure atter some rather vig orous prodding on m part the coon showed himself and ran from the beech into the maple at once finally 1 seating himself on a large dead limb and looking across at me with a deela edby vexed expression on his face I 1 descended the beech and taking the camera on my back climbed the maple the raccoon never budged as I 1 seated mi self on a limb opposite him and proceeded to unfold my ap but several times he display ed a beautiful set of pearly white teeth and once or tw ce gave a de aided growl of dissatisfaction 1 wait ed some time for him to 1001 pleas ant but as he absolutely declined to accommodate me I 1 photographed him in an ugly mood my success must have turned my head for immediate 1 I 1 lost my balance and tell backus aid from the limb but the ruling pass on was still strong within me for utterly ful of my own anatomy I 1 held my pet camera high above my head and sued s it intact As soon as ms some what jarred nerves would allow I 1 picked aselt up and looked for the raccoon there he sat looking at me over the side of the limb with a dueer puzzled expression on his face |
