Show C6— The Herald Journal Logan Utah Sunday September IS 2002 Birthdays Lake and Clifton Idaho In 1948 they bought a farm in Young Ward Rulon Evan Robert and Gilbert Olsen sang in a quartet called The 4 O’s” They sang all ova the valley The song most requested was Old MacDonald's Farm where they imitated the animals In 1952 he and Vera were called on a mission to Hawaii They sold their car cows everything they could and spent two wonderful years in Hawaii On return they were blessed with three wonderful children Thelmajean land Gregg Keller living in Sandy Conley and Vicky Olsen in Young Ward and LeRoy and Nancy Sandoval in Bountiful and 15 grandchildren He waked many jobs delivered ice cream Wingets and worked at Culli-ga- n Soft Water He delivered mail and covered South Logan Nibley CollegeYoung Wad and North Logan He hauled milk for Cache Valley Dairy and worked for Conley and Calvin Watts at Cache 23 years Valley Builders With all his jobs and playing ball he has made many friends throughout Cache Val- - : A — r t- 4 The family of Mervin C Sharp will celebrate his 80th birthday on Saturday Sept 21 2002 with a family din- ner Mervin was born Sept 21 1922 in Mapleton Idaho to Clarence John and La Veda Pearl Porter Sharp He was the first of five children He grad- uated from Preston High School and Utah State University He was a veteran of World War II where he served in the 77th division of the Army While serving his country he earned a Purple Heart He served a full-timission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-da- y Saints While serving in the Northern States Mission from Oct 1946 to Nov 1948 he met Mary Nichols and they were married Dec IS 1948 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple They had nine children:' Alene (David) Parrish Gayle (Richard) Thompson Lynda (Marvin) Sorensen Marie (Jerry) Larsen Kevin N (Mary Sue) Sharp Brenda (Alan) Freestone M Wayne (Debra) Sharp and Karla (Craig) Dutson One infant daughter passed away at birth Mervin has 37 grandchildren and nine After 52 years of marriage his sweetheart Mary passed away on Feb 102001 Many people wjU remember him for his 35 years as a school teacher where he taught choir and band history and art He has always had a great love for music and enjoyed playing his saxophone and clarinet in many dance bands Mervin was known as the “Honey Bee Man” as he owned and operated Sharp Honey Company for many years He has a great testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ and has served in many leadership positions including Bishopric Stake Executive Secretary and High Council He is still serving as a faithful Home Teacher He also served with his wife Mary as temple officiators in the Logan LDS Temple for ‘ ' ' Andersen’s 80th Olsen’s 80th Happy Birthday!
