Show MOST MAE R interstate commerce commission r has ordered an investigation collusion with private L nes charged and roads road will be required to make answer by september 5 washington the interstate corn com merce commission on its own initia anit I 1 a tive as a result of complaints against private car lines on tuesday anex began an investigation of the relations of railroad and refrigerator lines both oth of which it is charged are violating the act regulating interstate inte estate com commerce merce in several specified partick lars the complaint is directed against the armour car line the am refrigerator transportation company the santa fe refrigerator despatch and eleven railroads in eluding the atchison Atch lson topeka santa fe and the southern pacific the railroads and refrigerator lines are made respondents in proceedings which require that specific answer to allegations be made to the interstate commerce commission by september 5 it Is charged that by way of rebates or other devices the refrigerator lines are acting for the railroads as author iced agents and he railroads acting through the refrigerator lines are col electing and receiving for the aeration of fruit and vegetables lower rates for some shippers than they are contemporaneously receiving for sim liar ilar service rendered to other shippers this Is held to be in violation of sec see eions 2 and 3 of the act to regulate in ter state commerce another charge Is that failure and neglect to publish at shipping sta eta eions and file with the interstate corn com merce commission the rates and charges imposed tor for the refrigeration of fruits and vegetables constitutes a violation of section 6 of the interstate com commerce act the commission alleges further that the charges published jointly by the refrigerator lines and the railroads tor for the refrigeration of fruits in certain specified territories are unreasonable and unjust and in violation of section I 1 the territories described include indian territory texas california and kansas |
