VICTIM OF revolution american thrown into jail and kept there for fourteen years word has juat just been received by I 1 relatives in jervis N Y from F C holly a blacksmith whom they had mourned as dead for n nearly early four teen years holly went to colombia in 1890 1899 in the employ ot of an american drill manufacturing company he ile became an for the concern and wrote that having haing just complete a 25 contract be he would soon start tor for home since then he has never been heard from until recently when he went to south american holly bad had a wife and two sons eons in a cosy home in ulster county the wife still mourning him died several years ago and both sons were killed in accidents his father a mexican Alexic war veteran also passed away in his letter holly says that when he arrived in colombia one of the then frequent revolutions was in progress but he took no particular interest in it and proceeded to transact his busl ness he bad had done so and was on the eve of leaving the town of bucara bucala macgaw when without a word of warning he was arrested as a political prisoner and without explanation of the nature of his offense thrown into a dungeon because of the many changes in government that came to pass he was evidently forgotten and as all corn com munk atlon ton with the outside world was denied him he could not even I 1 learn 01 rn wh which I 1 h of the contending parties had caused his arrest and long cap when finally released he was in abject poverty and broken down in health
