join them on a trip to Las Vegas and then Gull wrote it up for reimbursement as a trip by Ganga his wife and molhcr-in-Ia- sprees travel and medical expenses and claimed he was the victim of a plot against African IOC members Gull who left the Salt Lake Organizing Committee nearly three years ago has doggedly refused to talk about his role in the bid committee's campaign to win the 2002 Winter Games A 1998 graduate of Yale University's graduate school of management Gull now works for an investment management company He declined to be interviewed in any detail on Friday or to say whether he has been subpoenaed or interviewed by w Ganga was pegged by a Salt Lake ethics panel earlier this winter as the IOC member who benefited the most investigators from the Department of Justice looking into the scandal Gull also had refused to talk to the Salt Lake ethics panel that spent six weeks investigating the bid He is on the list of those the Utah attorney general’s office wants to talk to said Reed Richards assistant attorney general “I was a small player I was a driver and translator 1 had no decision-makin- g role It was my first job out of college and I’m on to other things now" Gull said “I'd rather stay out of the spotlight as much as possible" Yet the spotlight has shone on him several times this winter as investigators interviewed former employees and pored over documents hinting at the cozy relationships between those who sought the Olympics and IOC members whose votes made it happen The ethics panel described Gull as one of three bid employees in charge of IOC members visits to Salt Lake As a fresh graduate of Brigham Young University with a degree in comparative literature and a fluency in French Gull joined the bid committee full time in the summer of trying to give him money Documents also show Gull was the one who saw to it there were a Christmas tree decorations and presents in the condominium to greet IOC member Phil Coles of Australia when he arrived for his 199S vacation at Deer Valley Resort Gull's indulgence of IOC members continued even after the bid committee became the SLOC In a July 1996 letter Gull told Ganga of hotel reservations he'd made for Ganga in New York and updated him on his 1995 land investment "The first sale will be within two weeks The sale of the second land plot will be quickly thereafter So you should get back your initial investment (the $73000) within a few weeks The third land plot will be pure profit for you you make approximately $43000 profit on the investment" Gull wrote to Ganga As it turned out Ganga realized $60000 on the investment but it took until the end of last year for the three parcels to sell Gull also surfaced this winter as the source of rumors that the bid committee had hired prostitutes for IOC members He told attorneys for the SLOC in a letter that he did not arrange escorts and knew nothing about the rumor said one of the attorneys Beth Wilkinson On Friday Gull
