photo by Athletic director wants to see all CEU athletic programs successful by Holly Martak staff writer ave Paur is no stranger to the College of Eastern Utah Athletic Department nor to the demands which it takes to run a successful athletic program When announcing that Paur would be the new athletic director for the college it was no shocker considering that he has been on staff at CEU for the past — nine years Paur spent his first seven years as the baseball coach and girls basketball coach and now resides as the head basketball coach for EU's women Paur's new job as AD consists of four main duties which include first and foremost monitoring the budget raising money for the athletic programs scheduling and game management Funding is essential for the program to survive and it seems that this is where CEU is under par Paur believes that our small town docs a great job of supporting us as much as they can but when it comes to other junior colleges we just can't compete" The athletic department has two major fund raising programs which include a golf tournament held during the early fall and a booster club membership This is where the community supports us and were we receive most of our funding he adds Paur's main goal for this year is “to try to bring all the sports up to the same level as the men's baskctball team" Not only does the men's basket- ball team bring in the most funds for the college but they also have a successful program with the winning of the Scenic West Conference last year and two Players selected "If you want name identification for yourschool the best way to receive this is to do it with a dcnce or that three others signed the Constitu- tion The reason that everyone knows about the college is because the team marched to national prominence and played two exciting games in the NCAA tournament and received $33 million worth of free publicity" Mike Dodd USA Today reported The school's application skyrocketed and so did the school it self Paur believes that the ath- Ictes representing CEU this year are among some of the greatest athletes to ever attend CEU and when repre- identification for ” says Paur senting the College of Eastern Utah throughout the year they will not only show great citizenship but make a name for themsdves their coaches and their school as being very disciplined respectful and represent CEU with class This year's athletes are already hard at work the volleyball team is working hard for the season and with a entirely new basketball team Paur seems very enthusiastic for the outcome of the upcoming season The Lady Eagles will be strong with a veteran team and a lot of hopeful freshman to top the team off The baseball team is hard at work ready for their fall ball season and the winter work outs Paur hopes to keep the athletic programs strong and to have winning programs and receive support from students faculty and the community “ alh-Ict- ic Wear you r Halloween ASCEU Shar
