Show Dodge City News PAGE 5 M HS Students Receive 1-Year Full Tuition - Shirleen Tucker University of Colorado Alumni Legislative Recognition Award First elected to the Colorado House of Representatives Shirleen in Tucker 1986, now is completing her fourth term. During the past eight years, Rep. Tucker has distinguished herself as a legislative leader. She is recognized by her colleagues and constitutes as an individual well versed in many issues. In recognition of her leadership abilities, Rep. Tucker has chaired the Capital Development Committee which is charged with reviewing and approving recommendations for funding all capital building projects supported by the state, including those of state-supported higher education institutions. She also is vice-chairperson of the House _Judiciary Committee and serves as a member of the House Local Government Committee. Rep. Tucker is committed to health care issues, particularly in those areas affecting women. children and She successfully JUNE 10, 1994 Scholarships to Southern Utah University sponsored legislation that added cystic fibrosis and biotinidase deficiency to the newborn screening _ tests mandated for all newborn children in Colorado. This year, she was the primary sponsor for legislation that provided a new funding mechanism for the CU School of Medicine/Children's Hospital's Metabolic Disease Clinic after the clinic lost its federal support. She also successfully sponsored and supported other legislation concerning the availability of and assuring the quality of mammograms for women. For her outstanding record in addressing significant health care issues and for being a strong advocate for Brandie Barnes eae Willd en Kimberly Rose higher education in Colorado, Rep. Shirleen Tucker certainly is a worthy recipient of the CU Alumni Legislative Recognition Award, presented by the CU School of Medicine Association. Shirleen Alumni is the daughter of Hilda Shields of Milford.
