| Show SOLDIER 15 60 TO FORT DOUGLAS this morning at 1010 company C at ar the utah light artillery passed through brigham from logan on its way to salt lake city to be mobilized at fort douglas the word that the soldiers would pass through tills city did not co come me to brigham until yesterday afternoon la in a message to president E M tyson of the commercial club with his usual energy mr tyson set about to spread the news and get the event advertis adjei used with the result that the platform at the 0 3 L passenger depot was a jam of humanity to give the boys a rousing greeting and cheering goodbye an effort was war made to get the band out but it was unsuccessful and the short stop of the train was made good use of by relatives and friends in the crowd to grasp once again tile the hand of the departing soldiers arid and wish ish them godspeed president tyson secured a bushel of peaches and two bushels of cherries at knudson bros fruit depot which wore were passed thru tife open windows to the boys upon which they might regale themselves on their way to salt lake lak city many a mother had a parcel containing some kind of dell deli mcacy article of clothing or something from home hame for her boy which was passed up to him with a mothers love and prayer that he might soon return home again while the passing of the boys thru this city was not marked by the same solemnity as their departure a week ago it was only because of the briefness of the time they were here hearts were just as full and many eyes were dimmed with tears but the hearty greeting ot of the boys themselves and the wholesome boyishness which they di spayed dispelled much of the gloom and solemnity of the occasion and made the alie brief meeting a joyous reunion jt how jonk jong the soldiers will be in iii salt it lake canuti cannot be I 1 an announced no at this writing g but it Is is more than possible that they will remain until about september |
