Last year they were in our apple trees all winter We haven’t seen any of them for sometime During the winter months there is little color in the garden so we rely upon a variety of green tones of evergreens and the colorful twig growth of familiar shrubs There are usually a few colored berries until eaten by the birds is a curious The witch-hazwinter-flowerin-g shrub with fanciful yellow blooms in cold January The shrub is not a hazel at all nor is it related to A hazels the decoction of witch hazel bark is used in many lotions 'or the face and hands especially after shaving It is a gentle remedy for chapped or rough red hands Does anyone in Cache Valley grow witch-haze- A new kit permits you to mix your own custom eye shadows You can invent colors vary AU fall and Thanksgiving decorations will now be removed in favor of Christmas pretties Early decorations may- be enjoyed a full month if you plan right If you have the pleasure of cutting your own tree you do get a fresher one In any case secure a strong bucket and a good selection of large rocks Place the tree in the bucket and toe rocks will hold it in (dace Add water as needed and your tree will last a long time and still be fresh So many trees are cut in early November and wiU not last like a fresh cut one will In any case use water in your bucket It will help prolong the life id the tree I wish some organization would give a prize for the loveliest decorated indoor Christmas tree We have seen some gorgeous ones not just by toe number of ornaments but by color and combinations originality Try something new this year There are numerous kinds of Christmas cactus Some pink cerese white and red They flower at different times and therefore some caU them Easter or Thanksgiving Christmas cactus The Oab’s daw type are early bloomers and are listed as zygocactus The leaves are toothed or clawed but otherwise are quite like the others The culture of the spedes is identical Perhaps toe crab cactus has the larger blooms Our plant is putting on a nice show at this time color intensity and coverage from opaque and bright to “Holiday Heritage” — A foods demonstration and display will be presented by the Cache County Nutrition Education Committee Thursday at 2 pm at the Auditorium at 45 East 2 North Logan Foods that have special meaning at Christmas time for their households will be demonstrated by committee members Two foods that have special holiday significance to those of Swiss descent will be demonstrated “Zupfa" 9S f a bread will be demonstrated by Mrs Cleo Includes hair cut and style Mon Tues Wed Only -
