Nixon The Game was Lost FREE DELIVERY PUBLIC HEARING public meeting concerning a specific issue at which legal action may be taken. Notice of a public hearing must be posted for a specified period of time before the hearing can be held. - A The American public shed a small tear and a huge sigh of relief upon hearing the resignation speech of Richard Milhous Nixon. In the past two years, .the former president has repeatedly and blatantly denied any involvement in the Watergate affair, all the while attempting to cover his tracks. How ironic that his own secretiveness and cunning should prove his undoing. Had it not been for his taping system, Richard Nixon could never have been proven guilty of all the wrongs he perpetrated. It seems that Mr. Nixon was so possessed by his quest for power that once it was attained, he was unable to master it. Power equated to righteousness in his eyes. His idea of government embodied something that was above the people, not for them. He suffered from a sublimated might makes right philosophy. To believe Mr. Nixon stepped down from office to heal the wounds of Watergate verges on the incredible. Why, after the many months of perverting the United States Constitution and his oath of office, should this man suddenly take the best interests of the country to heart. His game was winner takes all, at all costs. He reached too far and the game was lost. It is not our contention that Mr. Nixon accomplished nothing positive while in office. Indeed, in the realm of foreign affairs he, with the considerable aid of Henry Kissinger, made great strides. But we do contend, given the environment he created in the White House, resignation was his most positive contribution. We hold high hopes for our new leader Mr. Ford. He has one outstanding circumstance in his favor. He did not seek power, it was thrust upon him. Although he ascended to the presidency through no force, he has not staggered under its awesome weight. Mr. Ford emanates strength and apparently harbors a faith in the people. In short, he appears to be a man we can trust, a very important attribute at this point in American history. It may be possible that out of the political cesspool known as Watergate, a stronger more pure America may emerge. We also have Greeting Cards Film SPECIAL MEETING - A meeting of the City Council which can be called by the Mayor or by any two Counci lmen.
