Show Wednesday, June CoaimoK 13, 1371 MUCKERS SCORE SUPERB WIN rage rr players, Park City reserves, nngers and Orem'High School kids was defeated by the Park City Rugby Club on Saturday , June 15th. The 4 victory was largely the result of superb P.C. ball handling. d and the Muckers contributed The Provo side showed up five players to fill the gaps. Provo jumped to an early lead by scoring ten of their fourteen points in the first ten minutes of the fixture. Park City responded by tallying three quick tries in the last ten minutes of the half and gained a 0 halftime advantage. The Muckers outscored Provo 10-- in the second half to win the first summer season game in the Beehive Intermountain Rugby Union A Provo Kugby Club composed of BYU 22-1- short-hande- 12-1- 4 schedule. Park Citys tries were made by Don Sturges, Dave Bodner, and Wild Sam Heber. The fact that their side is comprised almost entirely of back-size- d players was an instrumental factor in the Muckers ability to work the ball well. At times, they were able to maneuver the ball completely across the pitch and back again. However, P.C.s size worked to their disadvantage in the line-out- s. Although Provo was the team with an insufficient amount of ruggers, ironically, it was Park City that played all but two minutes of the game a man short. Dave Runyan was ejected from the contest by referee-coac- h Dave Mueller for placing his foot between the chin and hairline of a Provo player. The consensus of the Muckers was that it was too heavy a call and that a strong warning and a penalty kick would have been appropriate. It was further conjectured that perhaps Alamo Dave should umpire slow pitch softball games instead of of-- ficiating rugby fixtures . Park Citys next fixture is scheduled for June 29th against the Tahoe Rugby Club at Lake Tahoe. When asked for an appraisal of their up- coming opponent, one Mucker replied, We dont know if they even have a team.
