Show DESERET SAMPLER, Friday, April 3, 1970 VCl I KP's Keep HHC Mess Hall Clean, Running Smoothly Many women complain about keeping a kitchen for a family, but have you ever tried to keep a kitchen for 150 men? Well, its not an easy task but five women have tackled this tremendous challenge with unexpiring energy. e These five women, all KP's for the Headquarters and Headquarters Company Troop Mess Hall, work daily in their tiring, un glamorous, never-endinjob. The ladies are Angie Atheriey, working supervisor; Lula Narvaez, Dele Jones, Jackie Larson, and Carlie Davenport. To most individuals, this job does not sound very exciting but all of the ladies enjoy their work. "Our work is not the most fascinating job in the world but we all enjoy it and I think that that is what's most important,' says Mrs. Atheriey. SFC Robert Coetzke, Chief Steward of the HHC Troop Mess, is very proud of his KP's and says that they do an "outstanding job." Every month the Mess I lull is inspected and rated in a Health Inspection by Preventive Medicine. These inspections are' very rigid and every aspect of the Mess Hall is checked, varying from overall cleanliness to food handling and preparations. "All of these inspection reports have been outstanding with only minor gigs being cited. This is due primarily to the fine work of these ladies," states Coetzke. In addition to helping the cooks prepare food for the meals there, the ladies are responsible for washing dishes, trays, and tableware, cleaning the dining room ana juicncn, warning an the pots, pans, and cooking utensils, cleaning and maintaining lSlgteP full-tim- g Mess Hall INSPECTION CHECK -- vAngie Atheriey, working supervisor of the HHC KP crew. of the ladies other with the KP'i (sealed), reviews the health inspection forms Dele and Larson Jones.
