Jones III, Birmingham, Ala., assigned to the 70th Engineer Battalion (Cbt) in Ban Me Thuot found the little pig wandering along a roadside ditch, motherless and hungry. Specialist Jones took Herman back to his base camp where he fed her milk from rubber-cappe- swine milk and corn meal procured from the mess hall and by accident discovered that she liked pork and beans. That has now become part of her daily diet "She loves to chase trucks when I let her out of her pen," Specialist Jones said. "She's an odd pet, so I couldnt give her an ordinary girl's name. The amount of money a veteran can receive depends on whether student and he is a full or part-tim- e whether he has any dependents. For example, a fulltime student without dependents may receive $130 a month; with two dependents he is eligible for 1175 each students with no month. Part-tim- e dependents can obtain $60 per month. Hie Congress is presently considering substantial increases in educational allowances, so more money may liecome available. The VA can also help veterans cover the costs of correspondence school and farm cooperative, flight, apprenticeship and training. Duration of Assistance Es h eligible veteran may receive ime and a half months of educational assistance fur each month he served on active duty after Jan. 31, 1955. This assistance will not extend beyond 3fi months. Since most secondary schools and h colleges are lwsed on a school year, the veteran can receive financial aid fin- four years.
