The study, expected to be completed within five months, will determine proper locations for different categories of commercial structures. Sandy divides its commercial zoning into four categories: neighborhood, highway, city center and community center. Planning director Robert Scott told the Enterprise the study will set overall design standards for commercial areas and masterplan industrial, retail and office space. The study will be combined with a current report being compiled by the planning department on city services. The cost of utilities, present demand and anticipated growth will be evaluated to determine what tax base and level of service will be required, Thompson said. 15 A.
