An unprecedented number of people applied for and received real estate licenses in 1977, according to the real estate division of the Dept, of Business Regulation. Last year, the division administered 5,884 tests to real estate agents and 300 tests to brokers, said Bob Hall, investigator for the division. That figure is 120 percent above the 2,676 tests administered during 1976, according to Hall. Part of the reason for last year's dramatic increase is the change in the educational reWe quirements for agents. upped the amount of education a licensed agent must have from 30 to 60 hours last year, and many took the test to get around the 60 hour requirement which became effective in 1978, said Hall. His statement is born out by the rush of applicants taking the test in December. A full 1600 applicants were tested that month, or roughly 27 percent of 1977s total.
