The release, appearing in last Mondays Salt Lake Trib- une, said Laughlin Enterprises, the manufacturer of food dehydrators, was recalling 500 of its dehydrators "due to a quality control error which could cause an electrical shock to the user." The story implied Laughlin Enterprises was at fault and the dehydrators were dangerous. But Laughlin insists the dehydrators arc not dangerous and most have been repaired Whats more, a already. recall was neither initiated nor is one planned. Why then did the Consumer Product Safety Commission circulate an inaccurate news release?
