AND NO THIEF WANTS HIS PICTURE TAKEN Recent statements by New Jersey Congressman James Howard have encouraged mass transit systems be funded through the corporate income tax. Howard is Chairman of the House Subcommittee on Surface Transportation and interested in developing additional mass transit systems. IN THE ACT! Surveillance cameras are tremendously successful crime deterrents for just that reason. But for most small businesses and some large ones, the cost is just too great. GuardianESS has an effective alternative. For as little as $50 you can have the same deterrent value as the real thing. Call us today for details. In view of the energy situation, increasing the use of mass transit is vitally necessary. Therefore, there is a temptation to jump at the first funding suggestion made. el Congressman Howard offers the corporate tax. Equipment Corporation M06So.2i10WIM.SLC lot if you dont. (801)972-673-1 Taxing the big guys is politically popular but the Congressmans rationale goes beyond. President Fords administration and now a spokesman for President Carter's have suggested reducing corporate income tax by 2 percent. The honorable Mr. Howard reasons that if the government doesnt need that money in the general fund, it could be dedicated to transportation. He further suggests corporations would not be affected because there would be no tax increase, just a loss of a decrease. Further, it is proper to ask corporations to pay mass transit costs because employees of the corporations represent a large portion of the mass transportation users (commuters). Beautiful . for meetings at Summer Rates Well on the surface it sounds nice. There are inequities in this plan, especially to those of us in the sparsely populated areas. Our corporations would pay the same income tax. but our employees use considerably less public transportation. We pay the tax, but the lions share of our money would be spent in the more populated areas, like New Jersey. We pay the tax but the financial and service benefits would be realized by others. One basic question that Mr. Howard has not addressed is why The full facilities of Rustler Lodge are available for meetings and conferences of up to 1 20 persons.
