Avenues residential groups have been discuss ing the plan in public meetings with city planners for several months. Johnson says most aspects of the plan are remaining close to the original design. The proposed plan would permit zoning changes for one such shopping center in the eastern section, between R Street and the Shriners When the residents agree on a final version for the master plan, it will be submitted to the planning commission for review and recommendations. The plan will then go to the city commission for public hearings. "Depending on how well Avenues residents seem to have accepted the plan, we may publish it in final form before the commission officially adopts it, adds Johnson.
