Each well is scheduled to depths of at least 10,000 feet. The new wells arc part of an overall drilling program calling for 16 wells federal leases where already the located on the Phillips-hel- d company has completed six geothermal wells. Geothermal activities at the Roosevelt Hot Springs area along with other sites in southwestern Utah, makes the state one of the most active areas in geothermal exploration in the United States today. Phillips submitted the current plan of operation to the U.S. Geological Surveys Menlo Park, Calif, office and requests public comments concerning the drilling activity be made to the USGS by Nov. 26, 1976. Phillips chose the new drill sites on the basis of known geological conditions and says that land disturbance will be very minimal. To a large extent, existing roads in the vicinity will be used. The company has six successful wells at Roosevelt Hot Springs and just recently, a seventh well to produce commercial quanities of steam was completed by the Thermal Power Corporation. Geothermal drilling has been brisk in Utah during 1976, with deep exploratory wells completed or underway in other parts of southwestern counties of the state. In addition to the work at Roosevelt Hot Springs, two deep wells were completed near Beryl in Iron County. A third well is scheduled in the Lund-Avo- n area before the end of the year. An unsuccessful test well was drilled east of Cove Fort by Union Oil which has 23 proposed well sites in the valley east of Cove Fort and along the mountain front south of Sulphurdale. Phillips Petroleum also has five proposed well sites in the same general area. More geothermal drilling is on tap for Utah during 1977. Several plans of operation on federal lands are pending before the U.S. Geological Survey. i Beehive International Earnings Gain you Covered With over 1600 stock quotations, news articles, earnings reports, corporate profiles, market columns and feature stories, the National Enterprise covers thp OTC securities market from coast to coast. behind closed doors of make it our business to know what's going on in the industry-fro- m We'll keep you posted on the corporate board rooms to changing securities laws and regulations. latest developments and abreast of current trends.
