You have at least a half million organs and glands in your scalp that serve the purpose of growing, hair. So you can understand the value of having a well- - nourished scalp proper mineralization of the half million hair organs and glands. Starve these glands and hair loss results. Each hair is an independent organ just as each eye is. The health of each hair varies; some weak, some strong. When starved for minerals, the weak hair falls ill and then falls out. This accounts for thinning hair before baldness. THERE ARE SIX PARTS OF THE COMPLETE HAIR ORGAN: (1) The pigment gland receives such minerals as copper, iron, iodine, calcium, silicon, which it uses to color the hair to which it is attached. Pull one hair from your head and note the tiny white tip at the end of the hair which has broken off below the pigment gland and not yet colored. This pigment gland must have minerals, else it dies and hair grows white. (2) The sebaceous glands lubricate your scalp and hair with a substance called sebum. This is an oil- - rich substance, yellowish, with the ability to absorb and retain large amounts of water. The sebum fills skin tissue, keeping it plump and firm. (3) The papilla is a tiny bulbshaped organ; it is the hair bud. The shape of the bulb determines the characteristics of your hair. A round bulb grows straight hair; an ovalshaped bulb grows wavy hair; a flat bulb grows kinky hair. The papilla hair buds are present at birth. Lose a papilla and that hair is gone forever like a tooth. (4) The papilla nerva regulates the hair organ. This is a pain nerve; when you pull a hair, you feel a pain sensation. This nerve is like other body nerves and needs nourishment for strength. (5) The hair canal through which the hair grows gives the hair its direction or grain. Nature put hair on your scalp to protect it. These hair canals point out from the crown all around the head, similar to shingles on a dome roof. This gives heavy padding to protect you from heavy blows. It also insulates you from the sun rays, cold, rain, and other elements. The hair canal must have minerals in order to keep flexible and to create a healthy environment through which hair grows. (6) The arrector pili acts as a draw string around the mouth of the hair canal. During tension, this arrector pili muscle becomes so tight, it can make hair stand on end. It reacts to cold, heat, fright, etc. Again we see how tension must be eased with minerals. A thorough brushing of the hair every day keeps it free from lint and makes it silky and lustrous. To manipulate the scalp lightly with the tips of the fingers, always using a rotary movement, is good. It should be done very thoroughly. Remember that hair growth and regrowth is not an overnight affair. It may take months, a year, or even longer, before is noted. A improvement condition that took a lifetime to create cannot be eliminated in a matter of days or weeks. This will take time and effort but is worthwhile. If you want to expend a little effort to win the rewards of youthful, moneral-ric- h health that will be a great treasure, then start mineralizing your body so you, too, may be able to grow healthy hair.
