Laughter becomes contagious as he parodies everyone from Michael Jackson to Garth Brooks. t. by Paul Covington The Right Man for the Job This week I thought I'd find the most violent and offensive movie I could think of, but changed ' my mind and went with a nice family flick instead. The movie of the week is7Vwr andiluck, an adaption of the Mark .Twain classic The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. Being as this is one of my all time favorite books, I might be a bit too nice on this review. Oh well, it wont keep me up nights. I am sure most of you will be familiar with the tell so a couple of highlights. A Ill story line, young boy named Tom Sawyer, a bit of a trouble maker, is played by the ever more popular by the minute Jonathan Taylor Thomas of the Home Improvement fame. You can see how clever this boy is right off. When he gets in trouble for running away at the beginning of the show, he convinces his friends that his punishment is actually a fun job, and gets them to pay to help him, or in truth, do it all. OK, we know hes smart, but at the same time he's dumb. He and Huck Finn go to the graveyard in the middle of the night to get rid of warts with a dead cat. Sounds crazy, huh. That is where it gets good. While in the graveyard, they witness Injun Joe murder some guy. Wow, all this violence in a Disney movie. Im Sorry, finds out that it is bad joke. Anyway, Injun Joe Tom that saw him kill the guy and that sets up the Pulling everything together, Rayburn's unassuming style and captivating audience rapport often generate marathon (two to three hour) concerts and multiple return performances at nearly every school. His ability to draw an audience into a powerful experience is unforgettable. When he isn't on the road, Rayburn is at home in Nashville writing songs and recording with some of the world's best. His album, Eleven , features guest appearances by musicians from acts such as Garth Brooks, Journey, TOTO, Dire Straits , and JamcsTaylor. Wooden Voices, Mike's most recent recording, showcases his versatility as a solo guitarist. It features classical pieces, innovative 'tap' guitar techniques, and mountain style "flat picking." Rayburn also volunteers his time promoting , Compassion International, a Christian organization dedicated to giving needy children around the world 9 real chance in life. Twice nominated for the "Harry Chapin Award" for humanitarian endeavors, he sponsors children in Bolivia, Ecuador, and Kenya. He has even traveled to Bolivia on behalf of compassion. His concert is sponsored by ASCEU and will appear in the BDAC on Thursday, May 21 at 8 p.m. The concert is free. -- ; n v r1- v - ' ';' i. T L-- rest of the movie. The key word is revenge. Injun Joe wants revenge afterTom testifies in court that it was Joe who committed the murder. Oh by the way, the only reason there was'a murder, besides for making a story line, was because Injun Joe was after a secret treasure. After Tom testifies in court, everyone thinks Joe skips town. Would you hang around if you were convicted of murder? So they think he has left and go on with life. The whole town throws a picnic. Tom, being the ladies man he is, is flirting with this girl named Becky in the caves. Then just to make the story funnier there is a cave in and Tom and his woman are stuck inside. That's not all. Of course Injun Joe is in there. You know that they will get away, but you still worry. They do find a way out, but before they go out, Tom finds the treasure and sends Becky to get help. That Is when trouble comes in the form of Injun Joe. But guess what, Huck is there to help! He would never let down a friend. In the end, Injun Joe falls down an incredibly, big hole, and my assumption is he dies. Tom and Huck are heroes and the once outcast Huckleberry Finn is welcomed into the community. Like I said, it might be because I liked the book so much, but this was a great movie. It had it all: comedy, love, action, adventure and an ugly villain. Injun Joe must be the ugliest guy I have ever seen in movies or in real life. But it was a fun show. Tom and Huck is rated FG and is a fine Disney show.
