Show Ballet Repertory celebrates its 1 0th anniversary The College of Eastern Utah Dance Department is celebrating its ten- - year anniversary with a special program beginning on Wednesday, May IS and ending with a performance on Saturday, May 18. Pieces from classical and contemporary Broadway shows will be presented along with compositions from the dance classes. Two nights will consist of classical presentations and the other two will consist of contemporary pieces. One piece that represents the area that will have meaning to the many Carbon County natives is the production of White Lady. The piece is based on a ghost story about the White Lady of Latuda, an old coal mining town in Spring Canyon west of Helper. Carolyn Gwyther, director of the dance department, received a grant to fund research and production of the White Lady legend. She put in hours of research and choreography to produce this piece which will not only be shown during the dance concert, but will be presented at events during the Centennial celebrations throughout the summer. The piece covers the most common aspects of the legend which is that the "White Lady" loses her husband and son in a horrible mine accident and comes back to haunt the coal mining town searching for her deceased loved ones. Legend tells that many residents of this area have witnessed the haunting of the White Lady throughout the past century while driving up Spring Canyon. It is a favorite spot of many teenagers. Other pieces in the production include: A Night in Bankok, Trees, Pritnitive, Connections, and many other varied pieces. The 10th Anniversary Presentation will be in the Geary Theatre with curtain time at 7:30 p.m. each night and the doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets are $5 for adults, $4 for children and senior citizens, and $2 for CEU students with activity card.
