Show DPG Company News Air Force Weather Detachment by LI. Floyd E. Hughes III Our commander. Captain David Lena, has received his promotion to Major. He is shown above, at his desk, looking at his promotion orders. In addition to being detachment commander and Staff Weather Officer at Dugway, Major Lenz is rated a Senior Pilot. He has had experience in many types of propellor aircraft. He came to Dugway last September from Rhein-Mai- n AB, Germany. Major David Lenz We had a visit last month from our wing commander, Colonel Clifford A. Spohn, and operations officer, Lt. Col. James P. Norwood. During their short stay, they were briefed comprehensively on our operation and on the various operations we support. Master Sergeant John G. Wondzell, our senior NCO and most experienced forecaster, has received word that he will be reassigned PCS to Elmendorf AFB, Alaska, in June. Sergeant Wondzell has been at Dugway for nearly three and one-ha- lf years; and was just promoted to MSGT (E7) last December. Don't be discouraged by the snow; Dugway really gets very little, even though it seems as if weve gotten quite a lot in the past few weeks. It could Ire much worse. For example, bade in 1921, 76 inches of snow fell at Silver Lake, Colorado, in just 24 hours. Erie, Pennsylvania, on the southeast shore of snowfall on Thanksgiving Lake Erie,, was buried by a Day in 1956. The record snowfall for a calendar month occurred at Tamarack, California, where 390 inches fell in January of 1911. That same year saw a record accumulated depth of 474 inches at Tamarack. So be glad there's not very much snow to be shoveled. 27-in- ch 65th MP Platoon (SVC) The 65th MP Platoon is happy to report that Sp4 James Baclces and Pfc Lloyd Conrad have reported for duty at Dugway Proving Ground.
