Show I - THURSDAY, CITIZEN THE DEC. Citizen 26, H74 Teams Begin ports Bantam Play The Woodsman Paul Woodbury Jan. 1, 1975, fishing regulations become effective with a few changes from past years. A major change will be that Jtah children under the age of six must include any fish caught in the limit of a licensed angler who ac- companies them. Reasoning behind the regulation is to cut the large number of fish being taken by some families. This does away with the practice of the adults catching the fish and crediting them to the youngsters, who of the are allowed one-haadult limit. We had many taking the small kids along, most not even being big enough to even handle a pole. lf The 1975 general fishing season will run from May 31 to Nov. 30. The Whitefish season in the Blacksmith Fork and Logan Rivers runs from Jan. 1 to April 30, 1975, and the Whitefish limit has been raised to 20 fish. Cisco Ashing also begins in Bear Lake around the middle of January. Other changes that effect us locally are the addition of the East Fork of the Little Bar Riv- - from Porcupine Reservoir to the Liberty-Avo- n road, to the list of fly only waters. Year around waters in Cache County include all waters west of Highway 91, except Wells-vill- e and Spring Creek Reservoirs. So dont put away those poles for the winter with a little warm clothing and some patience, some good, uncrowded fishing is yet to be had. Hunters Enjoy Weather For most people the arrival of cold winter weather puts a damper on outdoor activities, but for the southeast Idaho goose hunter it spells the magic of incoming northern flights and increased hunting success. The winter storms which are soon to come will bring more birds into the area and goose hunters will be avidly pursuing their sport. The Idaho Fish and Game Department has expended considerable manpower, money, and time this year in a comprehensive goose banding program. Earlier this year, the Pocatello Region banded 667 geese and Idaho Falls and Magic Valley Regionr amounted for a total of 645 banded geese. In addition in Alberta, Canada, banding crews from the states banded 1,346 geese and Ducks Unlimited banded 1.255 geese, making a total of 3.913 geese with bands on them which may Hyde park HOLIDAY Stoning JEFF EAST For TfctM Saturday, Dec. 28 North Cache Division 9:00 Cornish vs. Richmond 1. 10:00 Clarks ton vs. Lewiston. 11:00 Newton vs. Richmond 2. Building One. Pocatello Industrial Park. A hunter returning a hand will be mailed a certificate slating the date and location of banding and also the agency doing the banding so the hunter can trace the migration of the bird he shot. Any hunter having questions or wishing further lion on this subject can contact the Idaho Fish and Game Regional Office in Pocatello at through the Pocatello area. The large effort and expense of banding is wasted unless the hunter who kills a banded bird takes the time to return the band to the Idaho Fish and Game Department. In addition to the band number, the department also needs the date and location the bird was killed. Important information such as time, location, and size of harvest can be learned from band returns. This information is then compiled and used in the management of these birds. In addition, flight patterns can be developed. The flyway concept of waterfowl management has evolved Third, of Games scheduled for the Smithfield league will be played in the Smithfield Armory each Saturday from 9 a.m. until noon.
