It was back in 1954 that Mayor Dunn ' declared that Preston would either have to go to parallel parking or else the state would reroute the highway around Preston. The girls won a superior rating in their division. Mr. and Mrs. Wendell Fors-gre- n returned last week from Witchita Falls, Tex., where they took their daughter, Wannetta, to join her husband, Roger Call. He is stationed at Sheppard Air Force Base. Mrs. Ella Glover and two daughters of Ogden spent last week with her sister and family, Mr. and Mrs. Wendell Fors-gren. Mr. and Mrs. Roe Bennett and family were dinner guests Sunday at the home of their Mr. daughter and and Mrs. Terry Smith. Richell Rendlishbaker stayed with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Garbett, during the weekend while her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leon Rendlishbaker, were on a trip to Island Park with friends. Mrs. LaClede Coombs, Evan and Ron went to Tucson, Ariz., last Thursday to visit their daughter and sister and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. Terry Blake, and to attend open house in honor of the d couple. Primary graduation was held at the stake house in Grace Sunday for graduates and their parents. The talk winner was Charlotte Owen. Talent winner was YeVonne Archibald. At the rodeo that year there were 29 entries for the title of rodeo queen. It was won by Sandra Beckstead with Lois Nash as one of the attendants. July 13, 1954, the temperature reached 101 degrees here in the valley. The one to top that was in 1932 when 105 was registered. The Preston police advertised that anyone missing keys were to come to the police station. It seems that two boys had gone around taking keys out of cars on main street. That ought to be a good lesson for the people to lock their cars. Sunday, Mrs. Wright served dinner to Wannetta and Mr. and Mrs. Earl Sibbilts of Soda Springs. In the afternoon, Mrs. Lottie Jones and daughter, Larue Carlson of Ogden, visited with them. The infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Panter had surgery for a hernia on Monday. Clyde Wheeler of Salt Lake City visited Saturday with Mr. and Mrs. Thranc Kendall. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Harris had Mr. and Mrs. Kay Welker, Mr. and Mrs. Dean Millward and family, Mr. and Mrs. Thrane Kendall. Mrs. Steve ('lark and son of Boise, Mr. and Mrs. Iairry Harris and family and Ervin Harris of llyruin as guests Monday. Sherman Wright is employed al Dravo in Soda Springs as a truck driver. Mr. and Mrs. Claude Mendenhall and family had Mrs. Mendenhalls family, Mr. and Mrs. Ladcll Walton and family of Redding, Calif., Mr. and Mrs. Gail Walton and family and Mrs. Ethleen Walton of Lompoc, Calif., Mrs. Kay Walton and family of Kingston, Ariz., and Mrs. Danny Andrade and family of Needles, Calif., as guests during the past week. Beverly Harris, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Harris, had graduated from cosmetology school at ISU and has at accepted employment Gladys Beauty shop in Grace. Mr. and Mrs. Vard Harris of Nogales have been in the area visiting with friends and relatives, and also in Filer with her brother and family, Mr. and Mrs. LaVor Matkin. Mr. and Mrs. Junior White went to Logan Monday with his father, Loyal White of Preston, who went for medical treatment. Mr. and Mrs. LaFawn Johnson and Joy went to Ashton Girls Camp last Thursday to meet their son, Dee and family. They all took a few days trip to the Bear Tooth Pass, Red Lodge in Montana, Cody, Wyo., and back to the girls camp. On their return a group of girls from North Rcxburg Stake had just arrived al the camp and Mr. and Mrs. Johnson and Joy got to see what the girls have to do to set up camp, and the training they get. Dee is the camp caretaker for the summer. Mr. and Mrs. Dee Andrcascn and Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Christensen returned last week from a week's trip to Canada. While (here they went through the Cardston Temple. Mr. and Mrs. Marion Johnson of Logan and Leo Johnson of Preston visited last Friday with Mr. and Mrs. LaFawn Johnson. Mr. and Mrs. Bud Keller are remodeling their home and adding rooms. Murry Clark of Salt Lake Cily has been visiting the past two weeks with Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Mickclson. He is the son of her niece and nephew. Dean Panter and family had a picnic last Sunday afternoon at the Thatcher school grounds. Mr. and Mrs. Carl P. Nielson of Preston visited last Saturday with Mr. and Mrs. Harris Stephenson. The memberships of Mr. and Mrs. Sienccr Panter and family were read in sacrament meeting last Sunday in Cleveland ward. Mr. and Mrs. Thconc Kendall had Mr. and Mrs. Kay Welker, Mr. and Mrs. Harris Stephenson and Mr. and Mrs. Sheldon Kendall and family as guests at a steak cookout Sunday. A stake fireside was held at the Thatcher ward chapel Sunday evening for all youth of the slake from 14 to 18. Earnest Skinner was the guest speaker.
