Bingham haa completed requirements for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy at Cornell University, Ithaca, N. Y. and will receive the degree in August. Mr. Binghams major study, was and his minor subjects were thermal exhange processes and crop ecology. He received his M.S. degree in 1971 at Cornell. After fulfilling a mission for the LDS Church, he did his undergraduate work at Utah State Univeristy majoring in biometeorology. While at Cornell University, Mr. Bingham was a member of the Microclimate Investigations Team, Agricultural Research Service, U.S.D.A., holding a research assistantship in the Agronomy Department. He is a member of Phi Eta Sigma, Intercollegiate Knights and Delta Phi Kappa. He is also a member of the American Society of Agronomy, Crop Science Society of America, and the American Meteorological Society. In addition to academic achievements, Mr. Bingham was in charge of workcrews for building an LDS chapel in Ithaca. While serving as the Seventy's Group leader in the Ithaca ward, he developed a member-missionar- y program that was used extensively by the Susquehanna stake. Mr. Bigham married Gloria Mauchley, daughter of Glen J. and Golda H. Mauchley, Nibley, Utah. They have three sons, Raymond Gail, Jeffrey Glen, and Gary Eldon. Mrs. Bingham ran a typing service, specialising in thesis typing, during her husband's graduate study. Mr. Bingham is a first lieutenant in the U.S. Army and will now travel to Fort Gordon, Georgia for Signal Corps training with the U.S. Army. The Binghams have enjoyed a short visit with his parents and after a short visit with Mrs. Binghams parents, Mrs. Bingham and their three sons will Join him in Georgia. Upon completion of his Has Perfect Attendance Alan Kingford, son of Mr. and Mrs. Eldon D. Kingsford of Franklin, received a perfect attendance award for spring quarter, at a special awards assembly at Stevens Henager College, Ogden. The announcement was made by F. S. Robinson, director of the Stevens Henager College in Ogden. Stevens Henager College is a nationally accredited junior college of business. Students achieving outstanding performance in a particular subject are presented with a special awards certificate in recognition of their achieve- ments. Mr. Kingsford is. currently enrolled in a Professional Accounting and Business Administration course at Stevens Henager. He is a graduate of Preston high school. .Fairview Briefs. Mr. and Mn. Lawrence Fifield have their fint grandchild. The baby boy was born in the Provo hospital Wednesday morning, July 12, to Rodney D. Fifield and wife, Betty Ruth Ard Fifield. The baby weighed eight pounds. Mr. and Bln. Fifield went to Provo Monday to see the baby. She will stay this week with her son and family to help out. Betty Ruth's mother, Mn. Ard of Teton, was then last week. The John G. King family was at Twin Lakes Friday and Saturday attending the Andrew King family reunion. A supper was served Friday evening and then breakfast, lunch, and dinner Saturday. There were 100 present to enjoy boating, fishing, swimming, and visiting. Sunday the King family met at the Lewiston Park for the Julius Jepsen family reunion. There was a dutch oven dinner. Mrs. Lawrence Fifield visited in Preston Friday morning with Mrs. Leonard Taylor. That evening the Fifields visited in Clarkston with Mr. and Mrs. Hyrum Buttars and enroute home they stopped in Smithfield and called on the Edmond Drapers. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Drury and Mrs. Dick Swains ton and children of Preston went to Ogden a week ago Thursday to see Mrs. Drurys great granddaughter, Casey, at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Devlin. They and Mr. and Mrs. Ronde Smith had dinner at the Devlin home. Mr. and Mrs. Seaborn Lamont, their children living at home, and their married children, Mr. and Mrs. Craig Garrett, Mr. and Mrs. Thayne Hodges and family of Preston, the William J. Bodily family of Whitney, Mr. and Mrs. Marshall Nash and son of Ogden and Mr. and Mrs. Martin Monical of Salt Lake City went to Franklin Basin over the weekend for a camp out. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur J. Larsen of Los Angeles are here for two weeks visiting with his brother and family, Mr. and Mrs. Vaughn Larsen and other family members in this area. Mrs. Paul Carver and children of Soda Springs visited last Wednesday to Friday with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Knudsen. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Nelson have a new grandson. The baby was born in the Preston hospital to Steven and Shauna Flammer of Pingree, Monday, July 10. The baby weighed 10 pounds and will be named Robert. He has an older brother. Mrs. Richard Johnston and children of Idaho Falls were visiting for a few days last week with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Vaughn Larsen. The Rawlings family reunion was held Saturday, July 8, at Downata. There was a program, swimming and lunch. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. Merlin Rawlings, the Kent Rawlings family, the Brent Rawlings family, the Henry Rawlings family, Wendell Rawlings and family, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Rawlings, Arvin Rawlings and family and the Theron Rawlings family, all of Fair-vieand Mr. and Mrs. Jay Pitcher of Logan, the Craig Rawlings family of Pocatello and the Boyd Rawlings family of Seaside, Calif. Mr. and Mrs. William Hyde of Escondino, Calif., left last week for a visit in Boise with his sister and family, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Pittock and a cousin and family, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Hyde. They then went down the coast to visit with Mr. arid Mrs. Edward Oram in Walnut Creek, Calif. William arid wife had been visiting with his mother and husband, Mr. and Mrs. James Cottle and other relatives for a week before returning home. Prior to leaving they were dinner guests of Mrs. Leona Peterson and son, Norden. The Relief Society had quilting, ceramic painting and other handwork last Friday.
