Show THE SALT LAKE TIMES Sportsman Dollars Start Paying Off Utah sportsmen's dollars are getting a good return for their FRIDAY, MARCH 23, 1973 Cancer Society Names Salt Laker Residental Chairman Western Regional Postal Conference Mrs. Dorothy P. Holt has been named chairman of the annual Salt Lake County residential fund raising and educational crusade of the American Cancer Society, according to Richard W. Clayton, president of the Salt Lake County unit of the Society. In this capacity, Mrs. Holt will organize and assign area work-3r- s in the county. We will recruit 10,000 volunteers to contact a half million people in the county, Mrs. Holt explained. As the volunteers contact each home in Salt Lake County, they will urge residents to have an annual checkup and be aware of cancers warning signals: a change in bowel or bladder habits, a sore that does not heal, unusual bleeding or discharge, thickening or lump in breast or olsewhere, indigestion or difficulty in swallowing, an obvious change in wart or mole, nagging cough or hoarseness. To keep the public informed and warned is our major crusade. Contributions from the people go toward public and education, research into causes and cures for cancer, as well as service to cancer patients in need, she said. Mrs. Holt is the mother of five children and has devoted years to working in various positions in the Church of Jesus Saints. Division of Wildlife Resources biologists in the Monticello and Maob and Price areas report the antelope planted from Wyoming are apparently wintering well. A habitat analysis prior to the transplanting indicated the areas would be suitable for antelope. The antelope herd near Moab and Monticello were trapped at Lusk, Wyo., in the winter of 1970 and 71. The fawn crop last year was below normal, and drought in that area last summre caused concern among biologists, bu' to date the animals have fared well. Biologists report the herd near Price is doing very well. These animals were planted from the Red Desert area of Wyoming in Some of the winter of 1971-7the antelope which were released on the east side of the Price river have crossed to the west side. A population census wil be taken in the next four to six weeks. Biologists also report some antelope that Colorado transplanted about five years ago by the Utah border have filtered in to Utah and that the herd has increased steadily. None of the three herds has yet been hunted, but it is the object of the sportsman funded project to increase the herds to huntable populations. 2. pro-fesion- sit.
