Last year the federal govern ment allocated billions of dollars in aid through grants. In response to many requests, the Womens Resource Center at the University of Utah is sponsoring a one day conference on grant writing, Nov. 10, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the University of Utah Union Building, Room 323. Lunch will be served as part of the $12.50 registration fee. The conference will cover funding sources, technical assistance in writing grants, application for grants, what the field readers look for, and administration of grants. Dr. Clifford Drew, Evaluation Director of the Rocky Mountain Resource Center and Associate Professor of Special Education at the University; Perry Larsen, University Director of Research Administration; and Faye Brown University Administrator of the Federal Programs Information Office, will be the guest lecturers. Star Party on Friday, Nov. 12 Everyone is invited to attend a Star Party with the staff of the Hansen Planetarium and the Salt Lake Astronomical Society on Friday night, Nov. 12. The party will be held at the upper parking lot of the Capitol Building. The special attractions of the evening will be the planets Mars and Saturn. Although rapidly moving away from the earth, Mars is still close enough for its major markings and polar cap to be made out in large telescopes. This will be an opportune time to view Mars as the probe Mariner 9 will reach Mars and go in orbit around it on the 13th. The beautiful planet Saturn with its rings and moons will be clearly Sharp-eye- d seen in all telescopes. observers may catch sight of Venus immediately after sunset. There will also be the many beautiful nebulae and clusters that are visible at this season. Prominent among them will be the great Galaxy in Andromeda, the Pleides, the supernova remnant Crab Nebula and the Great Nebula in Orion. The party will begin at dark and last until midnight.
