Melvin Reed D. Pace and Alan D. Frandsen were also Koy G. Flinders. present. FOR SEVERAL YEARS it has been my contention that there are two ways to run a news-paper-- way and the WRONG way. Well, it begins to look as if Id have to back off and take another look. (In case some of you didn't glance at the front page last week, there was an anounce-me- nt that our son Bud McConaughy has taken over as Gen- eral Manager of papers. My Lady and I are NOT these news- Fair Louise retiring-w- ell be around, but in the back- ground.) Friends have advised that perhaps Id like to be known as The Consultant. The title has sort of a nice sound. Good morning. This is Joe Doakes. May I speak to The Consultant? MLF LOUSE SAYS shes just going to be The Troublemaker. Somehow I dont care for that title. Good morning. Is The Troublemaker in? She'll be just the opposite. Probably the Dispute Settler. She has been the gentle heart and sweet soul of this outfit for-1years, and will continue as such always. Stepping down isnt exactly easy. But many of my contemporary friends have done it successfully. Maybe I wont have to get up at 4 a.m. each Thursday morning. Maibe Ill have time to stop and that instead of giving friends a polite 6 brush-of- f. Maybe I can play golf when I feel like it. Still, whos the guyjopening MY mail? Whos that bi ash upstart making MY decisions? Whos the punk (remember, I changed his diapers) j signing MY checks? Whos the smart-alec- k sitting in MY chair at MY (But any time any one insists on talking to The Publisher it means trouble and thats when Id rather theyd talk to the General Manager.) Meanwhile, hes staying at our house, naturally, until school is out in Tulsa and his family gets here. He pays $1.95 a week board and room and eats like a horse. He tips up the nozzle in the shower. He prefers different teevee programs and after all hes a guest. He remembers with roaring laughter little items I prefer to forget. And now Im missing two pairs of my favorite shorts. The blue ones and the ones. purple-strip- ed well. Hes NOT a better newspaperman than I am. But he E a better businessman. Maybe well collect some old bills. Maybe the petty cash will balance. Maybe we can all get by with fewer hours. Maybe we can replace some old equipment. Maybe the place will begin to look like a business office instead of a mooses nest. Oh And in the meantime, we who know him best love him the best, and so we unhesitatingly recommend: TRY him. You'll LIKE Wendell Stembridge, Vern Huff, Belvon Blonquist, Walter Anderson, Mark Mitchell, Doyle Seminons, Irma Prescott, Wanda Spriggs, Mae Moore, Blanche Young, Helen Judd, Steve Jenkins, Ron Robinson and Imogene Siddoway were present. The equipment is ready to go. The Attorney was asked to make sure that the right-of-wato Lewis Peak were secured before there was any trouble on that score. The placing of culverts on the streets in Summit Park was discussed. Much work will have to be done and culverts will help keep the water from settling on the streets and breaking and deteriorating them. Instructions were given to put a sign up in the Marion Gravel Pit to keep private individuals out. ys Coalville, Utah May Thursday, fees of $50 and minimum fees of $25 for mobile homes were homes and pre-fa- b 11, 1972 Maximum discussed.
