W. 36 36 Mr. and Mrs. Paul Fawson were hosts at a fireside chat last Sunday evening following the regular Sunday evening services at Eureka LDS Ward. Professor Paul Hyer of the Brigham Young University was the speaker and showed films on a recent trip to Japan. He was on a sabbatical leave for a year from the BYU and time was spent in Hong Kong and Korea. His talk and the films were thoroughly enjoyed by the group. Laura McIntyre welcomed the members and announced the program numbers as follows: medley of Christmas carols by the ladies; accordion solo, Norma Jameson; story, Mary Thomas; narration and the story of the song, Little Town of Bethlehem, with Audrey Sanderson as the narrator, and the group sang the song at the end of the story; talk on Christmas, Grace Chatwin. Last publication Decem- ber 25, The Eureka Volunteer Fire Department members and their wives celebrated at the annual Christmas dinner last Sunday afternoon at a down town cafe. Fire Chief Leland Sanderson welcomed the group and Burtis Jameson and Dave Jasper were in charge of the arrangements for the dinner. Special guests at the dinner were members of the city cil and their wives and two county commissioners and their wives, Mr. and Mrs. Alton Gadd and Mr. and Mrs. Elgin Gardner of Nephi. Short talks were given by Mr. Sanderson, Burtis Jameson, Mr. Garaner and Mr. Gadd, and Major Charles Ferris. Curtis Butler thanked the firemen in the name of the city council.
