Show SHOTS FROM THE MOUNTAIN By KEN TUTTLE Conservation Officer Utah Fish and Game D Dept pt It Is kinda kinds hard for the fishermen to keep up with the extremes we have concerning water and weather To some fishermen these conditions make little difference but to too the average guy whose vacation vacation vacation vaca vaca- tion periods and time off are strictly regulation it can create create cre ere ate quite a disappointment in inI innot I not being able to get to his favorite faI fa fa- I spot Most of the thet H t 1 choice c h 0 ice lakes ft and j and streams are Y r still inaccessible ble pie and the theS S M- M k streams s that are aref f W Id 1 accessible a are r e ew w 1 too high and roily rolly There is Mr Tuttle so much water this year the fish have lots more room and a lot more feed which makes them a lot harder to catch The roads are rough and muddy and are even washed out in spots Those that can get away to todo todo todo do a little fishing later in th the summer are going to find fishing fish ing conditions more to their liking Community Lake in Ephraim Ephraim Ephraim Eph Eph- raim Canyon and Yearns Reservoir Reservoir Res in Manti ManU Canyon were the hot spots in this area for forthe forthe forthe the opening most everyone everyone took limits Palisade was considered considered con con- fair few limits were checked out and several of those large rainbows were caught Most fishermen caught fish Nine Mile was fair but not too many fishermen were there Town Reservoir in 12 Mile l Canyon was fair and Twin-Lake Twin produced a quite a lot of ot small trout A few fishermen fought the bad roads that are le still covered covered covered cov cov- ered with snow and mud and got into Six Mile Lakes They caught a few nice holdovers The Beaver ponds In Mile 12 produced a few nice brooks for those who fought the mud and snow up the Dinner Creek Road Some walked into Deep Lake and reported a few small rainbows and a lot of large fish along the shore that had winter killed Im I'm going to have to mention mention men men- tion a few unpleasant things that were observed in my rounds over the weekend There are too many fishermen violating the litterbug and pollution laws Cleaning fish and leaving the entrails along the shore or in the water bythe by the choice fishing spots is the worst violation Leaving pop cans and garbage both along the shore and in camp sites sure help make the the- next guys guy's trip pleasant Dont Don't be surprised surprised sur sur- to see these laws more strictly enforced from now on It was sure disgusting to see how the bait balt fishermen at Yearns wasted those small trout I observed several limits along the waters water's edge that tha had been killed and thrown back Some were even cleaned out and discarded for a larger one These small fish were planted as fingerlings last las year and are really good eat eat- ing The larger fish were just planted last week |
