Show public meeting. Mr. Mary Adams, program coordinator for the series, along with Dr. Elizabeth Leonie Simpson, humanistic psychologist and author, and D. Sanford Kanter, historian, were on hand to work with local committee members and the public in stimulating interest in the humanities in this area. They met with civic leaders, members of the committee, and other groups Monday and Tuesday to glean information about the area in order to use these facts in the public presentation Tuesday evening. According to Mrs. Adams, the National Humanities series is dedicated to the revitilization of the humanities in our country. One of their prime goals is the encouragement of communication among all facets of a community, in order to better our way of life. They encourage open discussion on issues within a community, with the inclusion of as many residents as possible. At the public meeting Tuesday evening, the presentation of the program by Dr. Simpson and Dr. Kanter was followed by a film, We Hold These Truths", and a discussion period. S. Congress with the support of the president. They are being presented in 26 communities in Alaska, Hawaii, Washington, Oregon, Montana, California, Idaho, Nevada, Utah, Arizona and New Mexico. Roosevelt is one of two Utah communities participating. Each community receives two programs at intervals of three to five months. The second program here is tentatively scheduled for next May. To help people get ready for Christ- mas, a candy making class will be offered by the Uintah Basin Education Cen- ter, beginning November 16. Instructed by Mrs, Faye Jensen of Roosevelt, who has been "dipping candy since she was a young girl, the class will learn, primarily, to maks chocolate centered candy chocolate covered fruits and nuts, for example, Mrs, Jensen also Indicated she will provide many "scrumptious, easy to make recipes for class members. A small fee will be charged for the class which will meet Thursdays from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. The location will depend upon enrollment, according to UBEC Officials.
