Although the opening of school is looked upon with varied emotions both among students and also parents, it does bring about a problem of common concern to everyone. Evidence shows that during the first few days of school, children are especially vulnerable to accident, particularly involving automobiles. With the excitement of returning to school, plus the added congestion of many students and many cars on the road, each year students are ' struck and injured, and too often a death is registered. In the Duchesne County area, several hundred students will be walking to school come Monday morning. Extreme care should be exihibited on the part of motorists to watch out for youngsters. In their exhuber-ancit is not uncommon for one to dart this way or that way with very little notice. Unless a motorist is constantly alert, a tragic mishap could occur. e. To the Editor; This Is a thank-yo- u r. re Brake A warning should be given by parents to all students pointing out the added dangers as they travel to school. They should be instructed to use the sidewalks where possible, and where none are available to walk on the edge of the roadway, facing approaching traffic. Students driving cars to school should also be aware of the dangers involved School parking lots are often crowded, with students passing between parked cars. Without alert attention all of the time a serious accident could happen. Not only is injury and death a sad thing to the family but we have seen serious emotional consequences experienced by a person driving a vehicle involved in a traffic death. If, because of negligence, they take the blame for the blame for the death, it often clouds the balance of their life. Dont become involved in an accident . . .
