Mrs. Carol Padilla from Bountiful came to help out and be with her mother, Mrs. La veil Schaefermeyer when she was a patient In the local hospital for major Pheasant hunters shot a cow In a pasture at U pal co that was posted "No Trespassing" Saturday. Arnold Powell, farmer and livestock-ma- n, came home from a day working; on a combine and his son said "Dad, Speck didn't come In with the other cows tonight." Sunday morning Mr. Powell went looking and the cow was lying dead In the pasture. There were a number of pellet wounds In the neck and shoulder area and small specks of blood near them. There was some brush nearby but a hunter should ln certainly have seen a cow. A big milk cow, quite heavy with calf. A neighbor lost a sheep about a week ago, during the deer hunt. It had been shot between the eyes, also in a pasture. This Is the third cow Mr . Powell has lost to hunters over the past few years. "Is It any wonder that more farmers are posting their farms than ever before? Hunters dont seem to care about other persons property--!- ! seems they get hunting fever and anything that moves is apt to get shot" are some quotes from residents of this area. This cow was valued by Mr. Powell at $3 SO. That Is the going price for a good surgery , Mrs. Milton McElprangfrom Hunting-to- n Is here staying with the Keith Jensen family while her daughter LaRue Is a patient In the local hospital. Airman 1st John Ostler and wife Carol arrived Wednesday for several weeks leave from Dcllvalle , Tex. where John is stationed with the Berkstroin airforce base. They spent several days In Aspen, Colo, with her parents enroute home. Gene Ostler was home from Logan for the weekend. Hal Mecham came from Logan to snend the weekend at home. Several members and their families from the muzzle loading gun clubs throughout Utah spent the weekend at the Tear A delicious Drop arena In Montwell. beef barbecue was furnished by the clubs. Thanks from the gun club members was expressed to James Hamblin, Duane Boren, Cliff Woodward, Howard Crapo, Bill Blanchard, Marley Hamblin, Dale Anderson, Glen Wilson and Dell Anderson and families for the land and food furnished for a enjoyable weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Arvln Bellon and two sons spent Wednesday through Saturday in Provo where Arvin attended Postmasters training Seminar and Maurine visited with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Gilbert. Some of the hunting company at the home of Donna and Doug Brown were Earl Roberts, sons Lanny and Arvin Roberts and a friend Tom Reay from Pleasant Grove. Gary and Arlene Brown and children from Salt Lake were here for a week. On Sunday his mother entertained with a birthday dinner honoring Gary. Mr. and Mrs. Marley Hamblin enjoyed a weekend visit from children, Kay and Mary and family from Brigham City. Marys brother Roy Schld, Joyce hol-ste- cow. The local newspaper, the Uintah Basin Standard, reported that more "No Trespassing" signs had been sold this year than any other year in their memory. Farmers are getting fed up with hunters who do not respect their rights as property owners, said a number of farmers who posted their property In an effort to protect their livestock. Mr. Powell dragged the cow to the roadside and put a sign on It Pheasant Hunters. There wasn't one hunter came into his place Sunday. At fast meeting Sunday the Infant daughter of Gerald and Lorraine Dye was blessed and given a name by her father, Linda Rachell. Mr. and Mrs. Byron Bowden and daughter motored to Salt Lake over Sunday where they visited with girls Linda and Don Schwarz from Las Vegas. Patsy and Manifred Nielson, Helen and Spencer Larsen In Magna. Peggy and Kent Anderton and family from Salt Lake were hunting company at the Reed Anderton home. Mrs. Oral Fenn and Lorrl went to Salt lake Thursday and visited with her children. She returned home with daughter, Shirley and Allen Frandsen. Other weekend .company were Kolene and David Stevens from Logan. Dave and Linda Timmons came from Salt Lake Friday to spend the weekend with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Mlrl Jennings and to take their baby daughter back with them. Dr. and Mrs. Frank Madsen motored to Provo this weekend to attend the Y homecoming parade. Sheri Bellon accompanied them. Pheasant hunting company at the Dale Anderson home were Mr. and Mrs. Kenny Faddls and five children. Dennis and Nancy Murray all from Salt Lake.
