Mr. and Mrs. Karl Betts took their daughter Karla, to Logan where she will attend college at the USU. They also visited with Mrs. Bett's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alden White, who are former residents of Ballard. Mr. and Mrs. John Gale went to Price Sept. 25 where Mr. Gale attended a meeting at the College of Eastern Utah. Mr. Gale Is a counselor. They also visited with his mother Mrs. Estella Gale for a family gathering since It was Mr. Gale's and their sons Rick and Brad birthdays. Mrs. Presley Timothy and son Lyle recently returned home from Missoula, Mont, where they visited with Mr. and Mrs. Charles Timothy. Lyle is now attending Dixie College at St. George. Mrs. Theo Perkins and Ann motored to Logan Sept. 22 where Ann entered USU. where she will attend school this winter. Mrs. Jack Hannum and daughter Jane, were visitors over the weekend of Mr. and Mrs. Phil Brotherson and Mr. and Mrs. Ferrell Crosier. Elaine Hunt visited In Roosevelt with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas D. Hunt this weekend. She Is working as a secretary In Salt Lake. Donna Birtcher who has spent several weeks with her parents In Roosevelt has returned to college at Weber State In Ogden. Mrs. Nellie Adamson, Heber was a guest at the residence of her son, Mr. and Mrs. Dave Adamson over the weekend. Nell Hunt left Sept. 22 to enroll as a freshmen at Dixie College at St. George. Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Murray and family, Heber were recent visitors at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Murray. and Mrs. Alfred Schlag Capt. and daughter Kristin, Corvallis, Ore., were weekend visitors at the home of Mrs. Schlags parents, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Murphy. They are enroute to Colorado Springs where Capt. Schlag will be stationed. Paula Murphy who Is teaching In Provo also spent the weekend at home with her parents. Mrs. Melba Coon was the guest speaker She told about her mission to Scotland where she and her husband were on a building mission for the church. There were 18 members present. A special meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. Melba Hanson Thursday, Oct. 2, at 5:30 to discuss events for the month of October. Anyone Interested Is Invited to attend this meeting. Salute to Youth event held in Vernal by BPW The Eastern District Business and Professional Womens clubs sponsored a Salute to Youth conference in Vernal SaStudent leaders from the high turday. school of the Basin were Invited to attend. The theme of the conference was "Potential for Youth Unlimited". Mark Rasmussen was the keynote speaker for the youth. Guest speakers were Lucille Hlllcrest high school counselor; Ann Kidd, of the department of the University hospital In Salt Lake; Hazel Parkinson of the Salt Lake Tribune; Robert B. Jameson, Uintah high business teacher; Maxine Natchees, BPW career girl and Josephine Yergensen, State BPW president. There were also buzz sessions with Wayne Calder, Kathleen Chandler, Rahena Massey, Vivian Turner and Helen Brown reporting on the findings of the groups. Business and Professional women are able to present these conferences because of contributions made by Sears Roebuck Foundation. $500 was made available In Utah this year. Jana Lube, chairman of the conference Introduced the guests. A pizza dinner was served to the guests and some 30 students from Vernal and Roosevelt who attended the conference.
