Show f I THE CITIZEN 12 Revue De La rPIIE L good ship Social Season has sailed into the summer doldrums and bids fair to be marooned there for several weeks to come. None of the social breezes blows to carry the ship out of the clutch of the inactive seas where all is quiet and where nothing at all stirs the surface of things. Regular parties and affairs are rare these days; nothing is countenanced but the simplest and most impromptu -- gatherings. Societys leaders are, for the most part, out of town, playing about at the resorts, haunting the cool spots at lake, seashore or mountain. It is the time of the summer widower, who is trying to be as gay and carefree as circumstances will allow, but he is not very successful. He is chained to the wheel of business and cannot follow his family to cool haunts, . so he makes the most of a bad situa- tion and seeks to forget the trying temperatures of the season by diving deeply into business. But it is an effort and the result is telling upon him. He looks so lonely and deserted that ones heart is wrung by the sight. The gay young blades who so recently were showing the debs a good time are left alone, gloomy, cast down and with no interest in life, judging from their appearance. They are seen in groups, their common bereavement making them akin in their grief. Time, which cures everything, alone can be trusted to remedy this sad condition. The weeks. will pass, ever so slowly, and life will again be worth living ere long, for the dullest summer must end and then social activity will again come into its own. Until then, courage! and Mrs. Horace B. Aven gave week-en- d party at their home in Bingham canyon. A dinner party Saturday evening was followed by a dancing party at the Bingham club.
