Young boxer chalks up fourteenth win Larry Harrison, live year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Keith Harrison, Roosevelt has won his fourteenth boxing bout since he began boxing at the ripe old age of three years. According to the young man's lather, Larry has fought twenty one fights and lost only seven. He has collected twelve trophies, 1 gold medal and a Jr. olympie medal to date. Mr. Harrison stated that the young boxer runs three miles a day, uses the sparring and heavy bag and one or two days a week trains at the gym in Salt Lake where he is a member of the Leo Montoya Boxing Club. Larry's next scheduled fight will be February 28 at the Utah State Prison when different dubs from the state will entertain the prisoners. Longhorns remain undefeated, top Tigers defense Tabby's Tigers got the opening tip off at Altamont last Friday, as their cagers commanded the court during the first quarter. The Longhorns tied the score the last two seconds of the first quarter, and went on to win their fourth league game by an eight period spread 60 to 52. It was a defensive ball game, and key players Mack Fieldsted and Jeff Fabrizio were held to 15 and 9 points respectively. Tiger Jeff Fabrizio has been the leading scorer in Region 10 this year. High scorer in the game was Longhorn Mickey Fieldsted. Longhorn Glenn Lamb had 15, and scoring for the Tigers were Hal Giles with 10, Tim Burt with 14. The Longhorns had a six point lead at halt but almost lost it in the third quarter before coming back with another six point lead. Shooting 100 percent at the free throw line were Tigers Hal Giles and Tim Burt Fabrizio made 2 of 3, Bart Gines made 1 of 2, Don Wood shot 50 percent For the Longhorns, Mack Fieldsted and Glenn Lamb shot 50 percent Mickey Fieldsted made 2 of 6, and Ton Beals made 2 of 5. The Longhorns completed 8 of 18 at the free throw line, and Tabiona made 14 of 24. The Tigers host Duchesne Friday night and Altamont hosts East Carbon, the only other undefeated team in the league. Appaloosa club to meet The Uinta Basin Appaloosa Horse Club is having their regular meeting this Saturday, February 5th at 8 p.m. at Zions bank in Roosevelt. Besides the business meeting, they have scheduled a cake auction and will show the film, "Appaloosa Story. Anyone is welcome to come. People can learn to swim easily because the average human body is slightly lighter than fresh water, and much lighter than salt water. Last Sunday, Jim and Jan Edgerton sponsored a trail ride from their ranch north of Gusher. Eagles down Longhorn matmen The Duchesne Eagles downed the Altamont Longhorns with a score of 42 to 20 on the mat last Thursday. The Eagles walked away with the victory carrying with them 4 pins along with other points for the evening. In last weeks meet, winners for the Eagles were: Scott Hoover pinned Vern Morris in 1:34; Robert Ivie beat Vint Roper with a 17-- decision; Jim Ivie won the forfeit from Gary Mathews; Joe Ivie won the decision over Ames; and Duchesne Forfeited their heavy-weigmatch to Joe Birch. Duchesne's Mitch Hoffman, Larry Muir, and Bruce Taylor all pinned their Altamont opponents, uarryl Sorenson, Rick Lucero, and Jim Thayne. Larry Muir pinned his man in 1 ht 1:36. Scoring points for the Longhorns were: Ken Miles won the decision over Alan Owens; Ron Farnsworth won the decision over Eric Lewis, and Robert Meeks pinned Jeff Marett. Basin boxers continue wze winning ways Five Basin Boxers won in Salt Lake City boxing bouts Saturday night Michael Martinez picked up r. winner's trophy for his efforts in his bout with George Dardon, Salt Lake; Gordon Howell, BBC, followed as a winner in his bout with Douglas Dandon also from Salt Lake. Then Lucas Santio, BBC, left the ring with a winner's trophy after a tough bout with Max Montoya, Salt Lake. Lee Martinez, Roosevelts rapidly improving 115 pounder scored his third straight TKO as he stopped John Gregon from Blackfoot, Idaho, in the third round. Andy Santio also continued his winning ways as he scored a unanimous decision over Danny Barret from West Jordon. The Basin Boxin Club is again rated as one of the strongest clubs in the state. With the tournament season fast approaching coach Ernie Martinez feels that his boys will be ready for their first state tournament which is the state Golden Gloves on March 4th and 5th, in Salt Lake City. Winners named in little league tourney Basketball A Little League Tournament held at the Myton Elementary School on Saturday saw the Myton Angels defeat Roosevelt; Duchesne 81 beat Altamont; Todd down Duchesne 82; and the Myton Devils beat Tabiona. These were the first round tournament winners. Second round play begins Thursday, February 3rd at 5 p.m. with Roosevelt vs Altamont; Duchesne 82 vs Tabiona, Myton Angels vs Duchesne 81. Friday Feb., 4th at 5 p.m. Myton Devils will meet Todd. Championship games start at 5 p.m. on Saturday, February 5th. The public is invited to attend.
