A reception will be held in their honor that same night at 8 p.m. David is a graduate of Union high school He is currently employed in the oil field. Kathy is attending Union high school where she is active in the drill team and was a J. V. cheerleader. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Olsen spent Wednesday in Provo doing temple work, e Tops was held last week at the home of Sonya Anderton. Queen of the week was a tie between Sonya Anderton and JoAnn Bastian. e Mr. and Mrs. Richard Olsen took Rodney Olsen to Salt Lake to catch a plane for Milwaukee, Wis., where he will attend a parts school in line with his work for Pole Line Co. e Wanda Bastian spent last Tuesday in Salt Lake where she attended a tellers meeting for Deseret Federal Dorothy Casto, Salt Lake, visited with her brothers and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Crosier, Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Bastian, and Wes Bastian last week. Mr. and Mrs. Soren Nielson and family, Sandy, spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Lee Allred. s, Culture Club met this week in the East elementary school faculty room. Mrs. Fausett explained to the group about the purpose and function of the Young Homemakers Club, We need not apologise for our roles as Homemakers, she stated, because we are not only mothers, wives and companions, but we are also cooks, janitors, maids, gardners, shoppers, beauticians, decorators, policewomen, waitresses, dishwashers, nurses, teachers, psychologists, veterinarians, chauffeurs and cub scout leaders and this club is to help us perform these duties Mrs. Fausett. with more adeptness, concluded. A tentative agenda for the coming year was presented by Shirley Pohlsander, President, who also encouraged the ladies to attend the Utah Young Homemakers Convention in Salt Lake at the Hilton Hotel Friday and Saturday, February 4th and 5th. The ladies who can attend the convention will have the opportunity to visit the home of Daryl Hoiole, who is the author of The Art of Homemaking and The Joys of Homemaking, and this should be a tremendous experience," concluded Mrs. Pohlsander. Culture club enjoys film on the Basin The Uintah Basin Chapter of the Utah Young Homemakers held their first meeting of the year Thursday, January 20th at the Altamont Elementary. Kay Fausett, Adviser for the organisa- March 4 and 5 the Hotel Newhouse in Salt Lake City, Utah will be the host hotel for three youth programs--th- e Youth Country Music Association Regional Talent Contest, the Miss Utah Teen Queen pageant and the Little Miss Utah Talent Contest! The Youth Country Music Association will present a Regional Country Music competition segment for youth talent only in Country Music. This program is for both males and females from age 5 through 18. The judging is based on 75 showmanship, stage preability, 25 and sence, dress potential Classifications and instrumental. vocal are judged Gospel groups also will be judged as well as Blue Grass. Regional winner will receive a trip to the finals. Trophies may be awarded to the best male and female vocalist in the age categories of 5 through 12 and 13 through 18, the most versatile entertainer, the one who rates highest in stage presence and the one who is most photogenic. The Miss Utah Teen Queen Pageant will also be presented on March 4 and 5, 1977. Girls ages 13 through 17 are invited to take part in this program. Judging is on scholastic achievements, based 50 25 on civic contributions and 25 on poise, personality and beauty. There are not bathing suit portions in this program. The purpose of the 1977 State Finals Program in Utah is to choose a 1977 State Title Holder who will then be eligible to compete in the National Finals at which time the 1977 Miss Teen Queen USA will be named. The State Title Holder for 1977 will receive a trip to the National Pageant, usually held in August of each year. Some of the girls who are presently certified to participate in the Miss Utah Teen Queen Pageant are: Mary Tilton of American Fork, Analee Anderson of Deweyville. Kelly and Kory Collett of Pleasant Grove, Rebecca Ann Price of Provo, and Janelle S. Davey of Salt Lake (Sty. In conjunction, the Little Miss Utah Talent Contest will be held. Contestants must be within the ages of 5 through 12 years of age. The judging of this program artistic ability and 25 on poise, is 75 personality, stage presence and dress. The categories judged are vocal instrumental baton, acrobatics, dance and variety. As in the Teen Queen Program, the 1977 Little Miss Utah Talent will receive a trip to the National Contest to compete fur the title of Little Miss Nationwide Talent 1977. In the Teen Queen category, scholarships are available on both the state and national levels. Those available presently are from Judson School in Scottsdale, Arizona; from Mt. Olive College in Mt. Olive, North Carolina; from St. Paul's College in Lawrence ville, Virginia; and College in Canton, from Culver-StocktoMissouri. These scholarships total to approximately 142,000.
