Kwiflif January 2, 3, 4, check for $11.50 was handed out, but the balance of the $100.50 was added to the weekly jackpot of $45.00 to bring the total to $145.50. Kay Allred, Neola, had the entry that was drawn this week. The slip properly identified Gwen Richens as the personality, but had identified only nine of the 14 clues. Clues that were identified included the fact that Miss Richens had been an attendant to Miss UBIC, she is a pianist, a cheerleader, lives on Wilkens drive, is a senior, 17 years old, is currently Miss Duchesne County, attends Union high, and enjoys flying as a hobby. Clues missed included her initials, the fact that she was born in Murray, Utah; birth day, phone number and box number. A large number of entries were deposited this week, and it is expected that interest will continue this week with the higher jackpot. It appeared, in reviewing the entries, that more than half had properly identified all of the clues. Deposits this week will be made at First Security Bank, Uintah Farmers Co-oLandscape Floral, Basin Glass and Paint, Nielsen Furniture and Huish Drug. The drawing will be held next Monday at 5 p.m. at Huish Drug. As I look back over the past six months, with the Chamber of Commerce, 1 look on a period of real enjoyment mixed with frustrations, dissappoint-ments- , gratification, uncertainty, and can add all of those adjectives that come with a challenge". I can honestly say that it has been a real good experience. I love to be involved in building, bringing about foward change, progression and new challenging experiences, even more so when they say, it cannot be done". Someone said, the journey of a thousand miles begins with one step", and the progressive leaders of the Chamber of Commerce took that step this year by setting up an office, taking on the added expense of hiring a manager. This, in my opinion, has been one of the greatest moves forward that the Chamber has taken for a long time. I believe that we are acquiring a new image throughout the state. We have made many new friends and acquaintances. We have available to us many resource people to assist us in new planning and organization. More people know we exist and are interested in us. Not only that, but I believe our own people are becoming more interested and progressive. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Clarin and the Board of Directors for the support which they have given to me this past six months. Thanks to those others throughout the area for the interest they have shown. It has been a good experience. I would like to share with you the latest the trend January 6, 7, 1 toward a welfare state and more wars. Those in the establishment were again accused of the pursuit of materialist wealth and the politicians were accused of catering to the masses for votes. There were charges of bribes and scandals in public office; too many regulations were issued by bureaucrats. The public expressed its contempt for good and honorable men. To add to the frustration there was a (HTtnissiveness in society that caused some to say that God is Dead." Yes. it was a frustrating year, so Saul of Tarsus set about trying to make changes. Any resemblance between the world of St. Paul of Tarsus and the world of today, according to author Taylor Caldwell, is purely historical.
