Show la The Paper That Dares To Take A Stand Continued from page THE POLITICAL REBIRTH OF ANDY YOUNG From Don Bell Reports PO Box 2223, Palm Beach, FL 33480 Not since the resignation of Richard Nixon has the departure ofa member of the U.S. federal administration been so written about, so talked about, made the subject of so much television programming, as has been the firing and or the resigning of Andrew Young, erstwhile U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. The black citizens whose votes helped carry Carter into the White House are toki by their leaders that the act is an insult to what they call their nation within a nation. The Jewish Mafia speaks of it as an act of betrayal to what they call their nation within a nation. The Arab leaders say it will now be even more difficult for them to trust the U.S. government. Israeli officials call it more evidence of the growing anti-Isra- el - policy of the Carter - ad- ministration. Conservatives look upon the incident as something that should have happened long ago. Liberals now look upon Andrew Young as a political martyr and a hero in the struggle for human rights. And a supposedly, saiddened Jimmy Carter is said to look upon the firing andor resignation of another loyal and trustworthy friend as a potential harbinger of worse things that may come because this could cause him the loss of the black vote if Young so wishes. Carter apologists reflect that there was Bert Lance, whose handling of money got him off the public payroll; Peter Bourne whose handling of - drugs caused his departure; now Andy Young whose propensity for not telling the whole truth has got him off the public payroll. Could Hamilton -Jerdon the Jork" or Jqdy the news mangier be next? Or could Carter himself be forced off the public self-appoin- ted . payroll? Each segment of a muchly-divide- d American public has Pi aced its own private interpretation on an event which may be nothing more than a pernicious political ploy on the part, of the powers behind the be noted that . throne; for it should Andrew Young is a member of the Trilateral Commission, and the Trilats do protect, their own. Important, too, is the fact that the controlled press has acted like Andy Young is not lying, but also not telling the whole truth about the strange case of Andrew Young. . An editorial writer for the Miami Herald came closest. He wrote that There is speculation that the Carter administration found Mr. Young useful as the point man for new policy initiatives. Through Mr. Young, the administration could launch an idea: if the proposal received a barrage of criticism, the .White House could disassociate itself from the idea and let Mr. Young If would follow take the heat. that, because of the use of Andy Young in an attempt to change the administration's Mid-Ea- st policy. it found and too hot Young got out of the kitchen (with apologies to the late HST). In support of this speculation" that Young was used as a point man to see how the public' might react to a proposed shift in policy or attitude, we might review a few of the controversial statements that have been made by this leader of Black Africa. He said that the colored world must be liberated even if it means the destruction of Western civilization. He said that having Communist Cuban troops in Africa was a good idea, especially in Angola where they brought a He certain stability and. order. said that Britain was a little chicken on raoe issues and had institutionalized racism more than anyone else in history. And he said there was no difference between the execution of John Spenkelink in Florida and the summary executions in Iran. These were some of the more publicized of Andrew Youngs controversial statements. It can be shown that each was. designed to test public opinion on a given subject, or to measure public reaction to a proposed change in policy or attitude, His try at changing administration policy toward the PLO is said to be the reason for his firing andor resignation. But this made him even more popular in the Third World, and in the black nation within a nation. . maybe-thousands- The Birch Log by John F. McManus For Belmont, Massachusetts many years, Congressman Wright served as Patman House the chairman of Banking Committee. Before retiring, he gave the following candid assessment of the Federal Reserve System: In the United States today we have in effect two governments We have the duly constituted Government Then we have an independent, uncontrolled, and uncoordinated government (D.-Tex- .) . bureaucratic outrages that have too often characterized federal control of our lands, Sen. Hatch explained. Too often, folks dont know who they should contact when they have a problem with a federal agency like BLM. Under my bill it will be easier to figure out where to go to get some action, Hatch said. This bill will reduce the size, power and expense of the federal government, while putting the accountability for the management and development of these lands closer to the people at the state and local level. Especially in the case of immensely valuable public lands, I believe accountability must be kept as close to the' people as possible. Local and state tax bases will be strengthened considerably by this bill. It will make available to authorities the these tremendous resources of these lands. Just, look at coal, for one example: with over 25 billion tons of estimated reserves, this is a tremendous potential revenue .source to our Western states. hard-press- ed Development .... .... in the Federal Reserve System, operating the -- money powers which are reserved to Congress by the Constitution. So powerful is the Fed that Secretaries of the Treasury are actually its subordinates. When David M. Our state legislatures and local governments, being more directly attuned to our local citizens, will be better able to develop the lands in accordance with the human needs of their constituents. will Private property certainly be enhanced and opportunities for reasonable growth will be increased as a result. This will lead to more jobs and a better standard of living for all of us in every state of theunion. Finally, I believe we have written into the bill the strongest possible safeguards to insure that environmental concerns are even more a part of good land management and development policy in the future. Section 301 of the bill requires that all accepted principles of sound management and environmental concern be an integral part of each states transfer program and that it be in place when the state seeks the actual transfer, All existing rights and contracts will be honored. I believe the people in the West who must make their livelihoods on these. lands are best qualified . and most likely to manage the lands for the most interests. productive long-terA recent Cambridge Poll showed that 65 percent of the people favor development of this nations remaining vast natural resources. Most of these resources are those of which we desperately need more coal, petroleum, natural gas, uranium, base and precious metals, geothermal energy and timber. There are cattle and sheep grazing and recreational facilities to be protected and developed by transfer of land title. The primary target of the fanatics at this time in American history is the nations children. For what reason? Our children and grandchildren are this nations future. They will be the leaders, the protectors of the family, the prosperity and integrity of government in America, providing they are taught constitutional principles. The International Year of the Child has been established as the way to achieve total prosperity,' distribution of the wealth, and peace throughout the world. The Commission on IYC sends out a newsletter which is received by this writer. Plans are afoot to hold a flag raising ceremony at Primary Childrens Hospital (Salt Lake. City) to raise the consciousness of concerned persons to the needs of all children. Festivities are planned across the United States and indeed the whole world in countries participating to remind people of the drastic needs of underdeveloped countries and their children. Indeed these are harmless activities, and beneficial for cohesion of purpose. However, one must stop and ask some questions. In light of the billions of dollars (American, and some others) going to the underdeveloped countries for children and the dreadful malnutrition and neglect they experience, one has to ask, Ever since 1945 when the where has all the money gone? United Nations was established, billions have been spent and sent as foreign aid to free and communist countries, for their health and welfare. Wouldnt one think that all that money might have eased the plight of the people and their children if it. had been used for that purpose? What correlation is there between the IYC commission meetings, the rhetoric about needs, disasters and child abuse? Will the festivities and meetings affect or cure the ills of the worlds children, when foreign aid has not done so? One has to wonder why each country and its leaders do not use our generous contributions in foreign aid to L lild water systems, create jobs, educate their poor, teach their peoples to care for their own families, make their homes more healthful. Does UNICEF accomplish all these? The true purposes of the IYC and UNICEF, (which is the controlling organization besides about 50 NGOs Agencies) which support the IYC. (Will quote directly from June 1979 IYC UNICEFs CHILDREN newsletter): ...following independence womens roles changed. as skills were needed in new areas. With UNICEFs help the their government of Ghana has stressed the importance of improved educational, health, and social welfare facilities and personnel. Naturally, many women have entered these fields. At the same time more of their children are attending school and moving to the cities to seek employment, forsaking their traditional roles. (all emphasis, this writer's.) To help women fulfill these multiple duties, and hence their role in national progress, the government, in partnership with UNICEF, has developed an extensive day care system; emphasized better family planning (birth control); created women's training institutes to teach proper nutrition, sanitation, home economics and child care; and supported efforts to advance womens rightful place in Ghanian society.... One has to ask other questions. Who keeps homes clean and sanitary? Who does the nutritional cooking? Who teaches children how to work, to respect and love their country, family solidarity, love of God? Can it be that women entering the working world is the primary purpose of IYC, and governmenin day care centers ? Nationalization of tal women, children, work in the economic world, creating more taxes for government? I believe so. 1 (Non-Governmen- tal big-brotheri- be able to benefit from these resources.
