Man w ho could hat e know n his lot e, rejected him, unable to perceit e things greater than their ov n fanatical fires. So In eastern land, the beacon led Wise men's quest to find they mocked him, plaited thorns upon his head spat on him, and in the end they mercilessly crucified him. Today My I the infant king, the son of God and tiod was in the miracle though the star was lost to sight, ability so limited, my feet so unsure! I desire to walk his path and more, y et doors to his sen ice proe difficult to open until I hear his gentle knock. and Ills light is always with us to guide us through the night. Could she see who he would be when he reached twelve? Did she know when he would grow hed teach learned men? Did her heart accept the part he would play ? While he was sleeping did she sec him keeping the world from sin? This night the youth were singing In a building old, yet grand, surrounded by a garden like those in fairy land In her mind would he he kind to all the children? Did she guess He would bless them, every one'' Holding him near, was her vision clear hed walk the waves Of storm until the words, "Peace, be still, from this her Son? Past gates the crowds came, pushing, w e too w ere sw ept along through doorways, up a staircase to where we heard the song knew that this was different I heard before, the same sweet songs of Christmas y et I felt something more. I Could she see who he would he when he washed their feet' In the stable, could she see the table, him breaking bread? On that first day did she see hint pray in Cethsemane? Did she hide her face when she saw them place thorns on his head? J i WJ 4vA Trom those Did her heart bleed, did her soul plead when they drove the nails' When shepherds came, did she call his name while he was asleep' Did she see what had to be upon the cross? On that night while the star shown bright did Mary weep? They sang the songs their fathers had written in glad praise. With special understanding, know ing le could grace their day Did she view the morning dew w hen he awoke? On Christmas day was the stone rolled away before her eyes' Was she filled with joy that her baby boy would not die in vain? Long ago did she know that he would rise' This great new generation may bring millennium and live to greet the Savior Who has promised He would come. 1 Or was that day in every way both glorious and simple? when she could not yet see all the joy and sorrow' of peace and rest when God's ow n best lay in Mary's arms, And angel bands with their hands held back tomorrow. h . s. I know he loves me dearly, though sometimes act quite bad, He knows whats deep within my heart and cares when I am bv IJovd Murray What that makes Christmas when you are all alone' Somehow, old friends, loved ones now gone, are once more brought to mind and, though you may deny it, it s likely you will find (that is, if you are lucky) a warmth not always present which makes the darkest day at times seem almost pleasant is it Theres beauty of the landscape when its covered with snow, the sound of calming music ev ery w here you go in stores, in elevators, in malls, on radio which, though it starts six weeks ahead can fill you with the glow of times youd quite forgotten throughout the entire year, to bring you recollections w rapped in quiet cheer. I wish for you, my special friends, as Christmas time draw s near, that all your days your whole life long bring health, much love, and great, good cheer. Poetry submitted by mcmbei ( 'tab State Poetry Society V- of the bountiful Chaplet 1 sad He still can work great miracles and does on every hand Like flying through the heavens and all across the land; And giving very special gifts, he always chooses right, And filling all the world with joy in only one short night, Or feeding a w hole multitude w ith a little fish and bread, And making blind folks see again and raising up the dead. It did seem quite unlikely that just one man could do it And so I found my list of facts, and proceeded to review it. I asked him how he does it, when I saw him in the mall That's wJien he started in to cough and couldn't speak at all, But as I went from store to store and saw- red suited others, The splendid thought occurred to me, maybe theyre all brothers Each in uniform of red, working out our Father's plan For happiness and jveace on earth, and charity toward man. - Now that J 1 am older and the evidence still mounts, think that 1 was right on both of these accounts Both Santa C.laus and Jesus share a common family aim, And all the good that either does, they do in Father's name.
