Writer What can be BOUNTIFUL expected from the 1996 Viewmont football team? Last year, High Viewmont made the state playoffs for the first time in two years with a squad of seasoned players. However, the Vikes lost 18 starters to graduation and expected impact player Jake Shoff moved to American Fork leaving Viewmont without a proven tight end. "At the beginning of the summer I told the team that I didn't know what to said Viewmont expect front them. head coach Ross Hams. "But they can w in as many games as they w ant. It's up to them. If they're willing to work hard and become a team, they'll find a way to win." In 1995. Viewmont finished 2 in Region 2 and ended the season at 4-- 6 6 loss to Fremont in the 5A with a state tournament. "Our goal is to get back to the play-oltbut the kids are going to have to work extremely hard to keep the tradition going that past Viking teams have established." said Harris. Viewmont's three returning starters are defensive standouts. Jaman Davies (defensive end). Bryan Jackson (linebacker) and Greg Mooney (linebacker) led the Vikes multiple front defense. Brandon Blackwell (linebacker). Chad Cullimore (defensive back), Ryan Edwards (defensive line) and Chad Morris (defensive back) are returning lettemien wholl solidify the D". Brian Allen may also win a starting position. "Defense is wide open. We don't have as much speed as last year but the kids are beginning to work together as a team and I'm optimistic, said Harris. On offense, junior Arron Echols starts at center. Shawn Brgoch, Jake Case, Edwards and Jason Hansen fill out the line. Mike Parker opens at quarterback while Jackson, Mooney and Nate Mullins will share time at tailback. Blackwell and junior Brett Ihler hold the fullback position.
