Ben Franklin Academy gets Bountiful facilities BOUNTIFUL Benjamin Franklin Academy, a home-schoassistance program was recently purchased by the Institute for Alternative Education, Inc., and will have facilities in Bountifuls Colonial Square. Benjamin Franklin Academy (BFA) is best known by home schoolers who are looking for tance with their educational programs. BFA was developed in 1991 by parents who believed that the spiritual and secular education of their children was a primary responsibility of parenthood. They believed the current educational environment in America was not meeting the needs of their children. The Institute for Alternative Education, Inc., were impressed with the tremendous growth potential of private learning centers, said Brent DeGraff. the academys director. The institute has nearly 50 locations in 12 assis- states. The new owners have provided BFA with a solid financial base to continue the development and growth of their learning centers. this summer for students enrolling in the academy are up an encouraging 66 percent for the school year beginning this fall, DeGraff said. That financial base has allowed BFA to strengthen the curriculum they provide to home schoolers at BFA learning centers across the country. It has also helped expand the Distance Learning Program in areas where there are not enough students for a learning center, DeGraff said. The Distance Learning Program provides home schoolers with videos of classroom instruction, which has proven an important BOUNTIFUL Bridal Image opened July 10 in Colonial Square. 503 West 2600 South in Bountiful.
