Show page 10 Friday, August 2, I 1996 Davis County Chop 14 vie for Fourteen young women will vie Clearfield lor the Miss Davis County crown this Saturday at the Layton High School auditorium beginning at 7:30 p.m. Jennifer Johnson, the reigning Miss Davis County and Kevin Peay of McCosiyn and Pave, will serve as emcees for the just that, according to pageant ner of Miss Davis Farmington, and attends BYU, win- majoring in humanities. She enjoys running, hiking and singing and has worked as a volunteer for muscular dystrophy camp and other service projects. Upon graduation, Ivalou hopes to teach music to third world countries. She has choreographed a vocal number for her talent. Twenty-year-ol- d Amanda Nash of Kaysville, is the daughter of Michael and Margaret Nash. She is attending the University of Utah majoring in Health Education and hopes to obtain a masters in Foods and Nutrition. She enjoys exercising, reading and shopping and was Miss Kaysville-Frui- t Heights in 1995. She volunteers for the Davis County Domestic Violence Victim Assistance Program. Her talent will be ballet dance. Emily Peterson is majoring in electrical engineering at the University of Utah and is also earning a special degree in sign language at Weber State. She enjoys performing, computer graphics and beach volleyball. Listed in Who's Who Among American High School Students, Emily has also at the Ronald volunteered McDonald House. She is the County Scholarship Pageant reigns over the Davis County fair and represents Davis County in the Miss Utah Pageant, at special events, speaking engagements and grand openings throughout the county during her one-yereign. The Pageant is sponsored by the Davis County Fair Board and Commissioners. The Miss Davis County Scholarship Pageant, along with other Miss America preliminary pageants, focuses on talent and scholarship. The new Miss Davis County will receive a $1,000 scholarship and awards will also be pre- sented to attendants and Miss Photogenic. Admission to the event is $2 per person. This year's hopefuls include: Sara Heslop, 18, daughter of Clair and Joan Heslop of Centerville, is a 1996 Viewmont High graduate with plans to attend Ricks College on a music scholarship and work toward a degree in elementary education. Her hobbies include camping, tole painting and reading and she has served as an elementary school tutor. Her talent will be a piano solo. Misti Jo McSwain, 18, of Farmington, also recently graduated from Viewmont High and plans to attend Dixie College on an academic scholarship. Active in music, dance and drama, Misti also enjoys collecting dolls, water skiing and soccer. She served as yearbook editor and hopes to major in education. She is the daughter of Mark and Vonnie McSwain and will perform a vocal solo for the pageant. Emily Parker, 18, of Layton, is the daughter of Don and Patricia Parker. She High and attended Weber State University. This fall she will attend Brigham Young University on scholarship and work toward a degree in microbiology. She was a Science Sterling Scholar and enjoys play ing music and exercising. Her goal is to become an ophthalmologist. Her talent will be a piano solo. Ivalou Redd. 19, is the daughter of Don and Karen Redd, evening. This year's pageant theme, A Blue Ribbon Affair" promises to be director Mary Pettingill. The Davis County 1996 crown EViiss daughter of Gary and Pauline Peterson of Fruit Heights and will perform a piano selection in the talent competition.
