Hansen Planetarium will celebrate the September Equinox with a live presenspecial tation entitled autumn Skies at the on Saturday, September Equinox 23, at 5:30 p.m. in the getting shorten Hansen Planetarium would like all area residents to know that Autumn will officially begin in the northern hemisphere on Saturday, September 23 at 6:13 a.m. (MDT) with the occurrence of the September Equinox, also called the Autumnal or Fall equinox. At the equinox, the length of day and night are approximately the Planetariums Star Theater. All audience members will be eligible for a prize drawing to win a set of free passes to Hansen Planetarium same, 12 hours each, all around Planet Earth. Also, on the day of the equinox the sun will rise due shows. Sanders Contributing Writer SDCH favorite storyteller cant Heard any good stories lately? There is something magical about getting caught up in a well told story. What can compare to the excitement of traveling to far away lands or solving the most perplexing mystery without ever leaving the comfort of your favorite chair. The residents of South Davis Community Hospital have their own private storyteller in Mabel Gabbott. Gabbotts monthly book reviews give the residents a dose of humor, mys tery and excitement that just be found outside the pages of a good book. Gabbott, 84, said had a friend who worked at the hospital heard her do a book review in church and invited her to give one at the hospital. Gabbott was such a hit with the residents that the hospital asked her to do the reviews on a regular basis. That was three and his years ago and Gabbott said she will continue her reviews until the residents are tired of her. Gabbott has read The Secret Garden and a series of mysteries by Ellis Peters, to one-ha- lf name a few. She said she tries to pick interesting stories and hopes that the stories help the residents relax and forget their troubles. She said she has some.requests for various books, but said mysteries are the most popular. South Davis Community Hospital Recreation Director, Dee Hailing, said Gabbott is extremely popular with the patients and a great asset to the hospital. Mabel is a very sweets talented lady. She makes the stories come alive and the residents really look forward to her visits Hailing said. MABEL GABBOTT 8. Rehearsals to start on Messiah The South Davis Civic Chorale, under the direction of Michael Huff, will be starting rehearsals on Sept. 24 for the annual Messiah presentation in December. Higher densities result in closer living proximities which provides a strong element of security desired by many families. Privately commissioned traffic engineers report that the apartment project will produce approximately 4 trips per day per family as compared to 10 trips typically produced by a single family residential area. Shepard Lane is currently experiencing increased traffic as a result of the existing commercial centers and explosive growth in Farmington, adjacent cities and the South Davis region. PBA principals claim that these factors, and the proposed project, will provide the pressure necessary to get the attention of Farmington City and UDOT planners who will work to mitigate the current problems on Shepard Lane. The Morgan Group, a successful apartment developer well known for developing high quality open-spac- e living environments, has committed to buy the site subject to PBA's obtaining A 32 acre Business Park campus with protective covenants to insure continuity of materials and colors use, quality landscaping and design.
