Pre-Tee- n Utah is an invitation only Scholarship and Recognition event involving young ladies 7-years of age ranking in the top ten percent of the state academically. Additionally, young ladies are invited who have been recognized publicly for their outstanding achievements, personal leadership 'iW abilities or creative talents. Candidates will be judged on academic achievement, volunteer service to community, church ROSE FACKRELL and BECKSTRAND school honors and activities, development of personal skills and abilities, comprehensive stage poise and personality. n Utah will award over $5,000 in educational bonds, prizes and awards. Pre-Tee- creativity, communicative ability and on Musica Thespia sets auditions Auditions are slated for the young people's choraldrama (Harold Hill), Chris Brown (Mrs. and Russell Maxfield (Winthrop Paroo) Paroo), rehearse a scene form The Music Man which will Nelden organization, Musica Thespia, based in Layton. The group will be under the direction of Kathy Skidmore and Charlene Nelson. Musica Thespia will emphasize vocal and choral technique, partsinging and music reading, creative movement, character development and diction. The directors have degrees in music and theater, have organized and directed community and children's theater and have been instructors for the Davis School District gifted and talented program. Classes will be held on Tuesdays from p.m. at the may Community Center in Layton. Young people ages audition on Tuesday, Sept. 7 from p.m. at 2598 E. Country Oaks Drive, Layton. Those wishing to audition should prepare a short poem or reading and a short vocal selection. Local residents Grant and Kambria Pettingill have formed and organized the Showcase USA Academy and will be having their grand opening on Tuesday, Sept. 7. Orchard Dr., in the Val Verda Shopping Center. Interested of 4-- 7-- the Utah Public Education Appropriations spent a half-da- y at the Davis Applied Technology Center. Rep. Garn was researching needs and services available in applied technology education. Garn met with Supt. Larry Brice and other DATC administrators as well as applied technology administrators from Davis and Morgan School Districts. He reviewed the extensive coordination efforts that exist between the DATC and local school districts to meet the education needs of students with technology training interests. Rep. Garn toured the facility and had the opportunity to talk with both adult and high school students who are enrolled at DATC. Students welcomed the opportunity to share their career goals with Gam and explain the training they are getting at DATC to assist them in obtaining their goals. intermediate and advanced dancers should contact the studio directly for placement on a performing team. Classes will begin the week of Sept. 7. Center Stage USA Academy and affiliates are a nationally recognized program that has been in business since 1970. There are presently 65 studios in seven Western states. Center Stage has trained over 9,000 students and performed in over 3,300 locations. Center Stage produces summer camps, mini workshops, competitions, and for 14 years has produced the National Cloggers Festival held in conjunction with America's Freedom Festival at Provo. Instructors in the national program have performed in Japan, Australia, France, and Canada in addition to Disneyland, Disney World, Hawaii and the East Coast. Center Stage Dancers have won the equivalent of the national championships in clogging for five years at the Hee Haw International Clogging Championships held at Opryland in Nashville, Tenn. and have enjoyed ten guest appearances on the Hee Haw show and three appearances on Osmond TV specials. They have been the only cloggers invited to participate in the Miss America Pageant Parade in Atlantic City, N.J. for the past three years. Exciting performances are arranged yearly for all interested performing programs in the Center Stage USA Academy program.
